Dont use tin foil all it does is create hot spots it does not reflect the light. Go to walmart or auto zone and get a car reflector its only like $5 or so. But GL to ya man
Yo guys, I came across an old Antec case. It's 17" Tall and 6"wide. I ripped it apart and cleaned it then I covered it in Tin foil. And some white paper too. I went out and got a home depot and got an 150W Med Socket, 4 100W CFLs and a socket Y splitter. I have Cotton Candy Kush and Critical Jack herer auto fems so I want to practice with some bag seeds I had saved before I try and grow my nice auto fems. I started germinating 5 in a paper towel then put then in a Styrofoam cup, cut 6 holes on the top and tossed it in the pc box for 2 days. This morning I checked on them and nothing, flushed them with water then put em back in the grow box for 12 hour with 2 of the CFLs running. And these were my results.

3 seeds cracked and 2 remain to bust. The water in the paper towel was a little warm but not too warm, I flushed them again with cooler water and then put them back into the box. Here's a few more pictures of the set up. I also need to get some fans as soon as I transplant the survivors!

I also found a seed in some dank skunk that I just put into germinate in a different kind of method than the 5 in the cup. For this one I put it in a moist paper towel then in ziplock back that I sliced about 15 holes into.
My box kinda glows which defeats the purpose of stealth grow, so I have it inside this BENQ monitor box that's give or take 24 inches tall and just about long enough to fix the case. (16")
Welp this is my cheap grow that I put together, hope it pulls through.thanks for reading peace
Update 1: Transplanted 3 of the cracked seeds like @past times suggested I should.

The one in the middle is the closest to the middle light but there's also one to the far right that gets plenty of light from the horizontal CFl.
There's the top view. The pot on the top is probably getting least amount of light but I'll do something about that eventually.
And cheers to a bowl of really good skunk!

Couple things, You want to keep them outta the light but warm. That first pic looks like there is too much water in the towel, they want to be damp, not soaking. You can put the cracked seeds in soil at this point, tail pointing down with just a very light covering of soil(Like 1/8th of an inch). And honestly, i wouldn't worry much about the foil with just a few cfls. If you are going to use it have the dull side facing the grow, and if you ever upgrade to a hi output light (MH/HPS), then foil is out. Flat white paint is the next best thing if you can't get your hands on the panda paper/mylar. Just a few things that came to mind when reading your post
Word! I wasn't sure if I had to wait a little longer to transplant them, and I thought I had to soak them, thanks for correcting my noobish ways! Gonna plant my seedling. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
If needed I'll just order some mylar, but my temps don't get that high inside the box with just 2 CFLs so I think I'm safe.
I need some help with getting some fans in here, Im looking for less wire work, so if anyone can suggest some nice compact fans that I can just plug into AC. Would be appreciated.![]()

Also you should know the top of your 2 cfl's is not contributing at all to your plants. and your other bulb is not being enjoyed as much as it ought to. You've got to find a way to have to so as much of the side of your bulbs as possible is within 1.5"-2.5" of your plant.
Also, if you've got your grow in a PC case inside a box, why not just use the box? My first grow started out in an old stereo box. I tell you what cardboard is easier to work with then emptying out PC cases lol (at least the method I used for mine lol)
Other then that good on ya, and I'll keep my eye in here, love watching how people get their shit done.

Woord. So you're saying I should point the top of both cfls towards both the pots on the outside and then the 2 sides would cover the pot in the middle?
Yea, definitely, even better if you could get the bulbs flat over all the pots, but if you can't you've definitely got to adjust to the best you can, and that IS neccessary with CFLs.

Here we go, fixed it up. tumblr_mfwu54uL5m1rjsdmdo1_500.jpg tumblr_mfwu5fFYYI1rjsdmdo1_500.jpg
Getting the light to hold
was tricky, but I figured
it out. Dental Floss<3
Haha, fishing line is what I used :P
I would say just try to get those cups in a nice little cluster underneath the light, and maybe raise the cups up to the light if you can't lower the light, should be 2in, not much more or less, from the soil.
I've got to wonder thou..Do you plan to flower in this box?

hahaha, nice with the dental floss. Good angle on the bulbs now, but when the girls actaually come out, you will still want to get them even closer. D.Tea is absuletely right. CFL's MUST be in very close proximity to the plant. What soil are you using? Looks dense. You should cut it with at least 25% perlite to help with drainage.
