Use biggest pots that will fit in rubbermaid?

I'm using 2-27gallon rubbermaid containers 1 stacked on the other. Got 2 plants just starting right now. I've got 1 gallon pots to transplant into after dixie cup stage, but should I use the largest pot size I can fit inside my grow area and just transplant into those? (thinking maybe up to 3 gallon size tops?) Planning to LST btw.

A lot of people just drop seeds into the final pot after the plants get past the seedling stage. I think you get the most out of your pots if you let them get slightly root bound and transplant each time into a larger container. Keep in mind though that if you aren't used to transplanting each time you do it will likely stunt the plant a little bit. Going from a 1 gallon to a 3 shouldn't be that big of an issue though.
