An ounce a month, how realistic is this?

So like everyone on here, I love the herb. Problem is, the dealers I know charge out the ass for mediocre stuff. The last bag I bought from a friend put me over the edge, $120 for a very light, wet quarter. To top things off, I found two seeds, which is completely unacceptable to me.

Within a few months I'll be moving into my own apartment, no room mates. I don't have a lot of friends that will be over, not even girls haha. Still, I want to keep things as small and stealthy as possible. I figure if I can get an ounce a month, that will more than meet my needs. I was thinking about building a cab out of a 27x14x40 dresser for flowering. I would need a perpetual system so I will always have bud. I could possibly build a separate cab for cloning too.

I'm trying to do my homework before I start anything. I'm just trying to figure out how I can reach my goal of a zip a month. That'd give me enough smoke and then some. I have a lot of experience in design and construction so that's no problem.

Ounce a month means pretty much just one medium sized plants or two small ones. That is working on 3 week veg 9 weeks flower. If you have a separate cab for cloning then you can cut 2-3 weeks off the 12 week premise.

I was pulling an oz a week with 388w of CFL here - First CFL Grow - Help appreciated

I would recommend a 3:1 of 6500K:2700K for veg and the opposite for flower.

Keep them small! CFLs don't do nearly as well with large plants unless you keep a clean scrog or LST. I started flowering at this size -

Dropping bulb between plants maximizes plant absorption without the loss of restrike like you would have with a reflector. I tried to cover the canopy in smaller bulbs and submerge larger bulbs between plants.

I would yield ~ 1oz per plant. With 6 in full flower at a time and two others just rotating into the flower box I was able to harvest a plant per week.

This took place in a 2x3x3.5' area of a small closet.

I would suggest growing an autoflowering strain. You can have multiple generations in one cab because you never have to change the light timing and they usually finish in about 10 weeks.

I have a suggestion check out the 12/12 from seed or clone thread and think about a perpetual situation this way you will get that oz and then some with alot of space for expansion....as far as auto i have found them to be a pain in the ass...and ive been in this game for 7years and never seen nothing as disappointig as those bitchies..gastanker has the right idea

I wouldn't do autos. You can maintain a regular plant at the same size as an auto and it only requires 12 hours of light to flower versus the 18 or 24 an auto needs.

Flower small, 4 plants, have one come down every two weeks. I think it's easily attainable... Buy clones or germinate in a separate cab

I'd follow gastanker's route, I hope to pull similar from my cab. I'm using vertical 55w pl-l bulbs instead though.

@gastanker, have you looked into running vertical pl-l bulbs? Would save you hassel of adjusting light heights

This grow cabinet is usually good for about one oz a month. I could yield more in this space, too, if i was willing to plant more plants. For legal reasons, i keep the number of plants down to 4, so two are in flowing at a time. With an 8 week strain, this means harvesting 1 plant every 4 weeks. Each plant usually gives me 20-30 grams, depending on how well they were grown that cycle.

And the bud is WAY better than anything that local dealers have.

why not just get a 600 watt mh/hps and rip out 2 harvests a year..take 5 months off and relax and have plenty to smoke/sell....

I'd totally do autos....

You can start a new auto every 3-4 weeks, and keep them all in the same cabinet on the same light cycle.... they're small, and you can potentially get more than 1oz per plant.... which means more than 1oz per month for you ;)

Stick with gas's advice, his setup is very simple and yet look at those results! if you needed to scale it down to a dresser with a nightstand for vegging then you could bring it to a zip a month easily. That has to be the most successful CFL grow i have ever seen.

If you have start-up money LED could be a choice, but height is a major concern as perpetual grows generally don't do the scrog thing too well, just something to plan for. Check my sig for my journal on a one plant grow, but really i would ask GAS some more questions and emulate that.

Oh and definitely go normal plants, autos have their place but really its just a crutch. Your better off cloning right before you send into flower and not buying a new pack of seeds every other month. Cloning is really really easy once you learn it once, and a DIY bubble system is about $50 complete (thats covering all your bases)

You can achieve that. Did you keep the 2 seeds(if it was a good smoke)? Most dealers also hate giving you thier strain.

Im subbed for this adventure. I will be pulling something very similar with the next year. You can make a nice veg box out of an entertainment center speaker box or a sub box.

ANYHOW i like the cloning idea before you send into the flower chamber.
Easiest cloning method there is, no bubble cloners, no air pumps,.. Simply take the branch you wish to clone, take a party cup or little pot to put dirt in. Pin down that branch into the party cup and cover a little part of it with dirt... Wait like a week or maybe 2 cut from the mother plant, badda bing badda boom clone :)
