rastafari isnt really a religion..its more of a way of life and a belief system...it has no official bible or doctorine..there are no rules..or regulations...it is named so after Halie Selassie who was emperor of eithiopia from around 1920 or so until the late 1970s..he was born Ras tafari makonnen..some rastas believe him to be god or jehovah..hence the saying "jah rastafari" this is believed so due to many spiritual and biblical propheceys..he comes from the lineage of king solomin and the queen of sheba...in the begining rasta was a pro africa anti european group that followed the teachings of marcus garvey who told of biblical prophecys that a king will come to power in eithiopia known as the king of kings lord of lords the conquering lion of juda..ras tafari fullfiled that prophecy..but instead of teaching of black supremacy he taught that all men and women are from the same lineage..that we as humanity are all equal...he also taught that religion is division..a division of people and of class also that we should have faith and practice spiritualism and that no man should be judged by his spiritual belief...today there are over 3 million rastas worldwide and all practice their faith in many different ways..rasta is about pure love for life and humanity, respect and humility towards each other giving thanks and praise toward jah ( whom ever you believe that to be)..to live life simple and away from babylon influence and control..to live your life with true liberty and freedom as a man whos no better or no worse than another man......this is my understanding of rastafari...like i said there is no strict doctorine or bible to guide...its just a way of life and love for me....
I will try my best to answer any other questions you might have...like i said..many rasta have different belief to rasta...but the underlying theme is equality and love through humanity
