We have to assume that god looks somewhat human, since he made man in his image.
I'll take the question at face value, but you have to help me with a pointer or clarification. I have never really known what means this "comfortable."

The old stories say Buddha prayed to Vishnu the god-head, to grant the boon to spread his simple condundrums. And Buddha's mom was said to have given vigin birth to him being impregnated by Vishnu in a dream. Religions are what we make of them, even this one. It's not placed above any religion to me. Modern western pagan Buddhist, of the Taoist or Shinto bent might say that, however.

Yes, that has been said. And the only secular fact I know of is a reference from Pliney, perhaps 10 years after his execution that was not recorded, and a full 30 years at least before anything else was written as gospel. This is really a pre-historic period as far as a complete record is concerned. But, Pileny wrote of him a man of the Jews who was said to perform paradoxical feats.
Just something he had heard, no mention of a name.
If he did or didn't exist, so what? The religion is all about this wonderous holy magic. How does Self exist? That's the message of all of those who have spoken up and had their words twisted for power.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. ~Carl Sagan
