Obviously it's a state of mind thing. Because as of now there is no definitive proof of a "god", you have a choice as to whether or not you want to believe in it. If you don't believe in a god then no it doesn't, but if you do then you have another question to answer, is this what "god" wants you to do and does it in fact bring him closer to you or you closer to him, or does it push you further away, and all of this is assuming there is a god.

But your question may be a subjective experience inquiry, which is the only answer that could be given to such an allegorical question and since I am kind of divided on the issue then I could not give you a definitive answer.

Weed sometimes brings me closer to God. It depends on who I smoke with. We are all apart of God. Man cannot survive on bread alone!

Because God is unknowable. Humans cannot know their creator just like a piece of wood can not know a carpender but te carpender is the woods creator. Faith my brotha.

It can enhance your God complex, if that counts. Otherwise it's a case of whether you believe in that stuff or not. I'm sure pothead Physicists etc muse on the compliexities of fundemental therum and the like, their own interpretation of 'God'. It's important to utilise your brainpower either way, as you can produce some very intriguing thought patterns after a few bowls.

It is mind expanding, but "closer to god (lower case)? Not even sure what this question is supposed to mean.

I think about the Lord in more creative ways when I'm stoned. Usually that leads me to worship Him because of the revelation. So, yeah, it brings me closer to God.
