I struggle with this question as well. But to play the Devil's advocate and say that it probably is a sin, I found this passage from the Gospel of Mark:
And they came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?" But knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why put me to the test? Bring me a coin, and let me look at it." And they brought one. And he said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said to him, "Caesar's." Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at him. Mark 12:14-17 RSV Now to explain my interpretation: I think that what Jesus is saying is that laws set up by a government on Earth should be adherred to. So, if we are breaking laws on Earth, are we are breaking His laws as well? The US government says that marijuana is illegal. So we should follow that law. Does that make it a sin? I can't really say, but that verse sure as hell does confuse me when it comes to this matter.

Genesis 1:29-30 (King James Version)
29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

I don't think anyone would be anymore compelled to commit any sin while high compared to while sober. Perhaps gluttony.
If you are still free to make the right actions while high, your karma is clean. Or you could say there's no sin. Smoking marijuana is not necessarily an impairment.

god gave us free will so we could make our own decisions and gave us the oppertunity to repent. ppl sinned so jesus came, and died for our sins so that we wouldn't burn n go to hell. that doesn't mean we can continue to sin w/o repenting lol
