Default What would Aristotle say?!
My my we have come such a long way from reason and logic. We are in an era of blind faith and ignorance. We are in a time when materialistic distractions have such a stronghold on our society that anyone who finds this society pathetic is often seen as crazy. This starts with our children. Teach them that they are the only ones who can decide what is true to them. Truth is independent of us and although some may argue that every single decision/action/thought changes the fabric of time by altering the vibrational frequencies that ultimately comprise the earth, we cannot stop looking for truth. When did questioning things go from a quest of greater understanding and happiness to paranoia?

I beleive its not so much a question of paranoia as it is to blind attatchment of the material,Im sure you can see most people dont think past the moment, they are stuck in the boring mindset of "what i see in front of me is it and nothing more".Truly it all depends on ones upbringing, it is the path of the mindset paved early on that structures value and beleif. But i for one beleive that society is in the greater sense pathetic, for all of its attatchment to possession and pure lack of the will to understand or to be open minded about the unknown.Call me crazy, but thats how i view it.

When we stopped looking at the sky and using the sun for time and the stars for direction and growing our own food and killing our own feasts. Thats when we stopped asking and wondering.

Aristotle would say WTF!

Yeah, it's a matter of virtue. There's only one way to measure accomplishment and worth out there in society: money. You gots your boat and big house and a couple of nice cars.

Back in the day, when they had a debate, it was about discovery...learning the truth and intellectual advancement. Intellect and truth was a virtue. Today, debate is about trying to convince someone else you're right...even at the expense of truth.

I'm going to agree with this. Television presented a huge new revenue source for advertising. Corporations could now pander their useless crap directly into people's homes. Then came the mindless drivel we call entertainment, TV shows.

Does anyone on here remember when MTV actually played music videos? Now you have to watch MTV 6 to see videos, the rest of them are filled with "reality TV." Shows like Survivor, American Idol and Big Brother are a symptom of what is wrong with this country. Currently this shit only serves to dumb down society, and it's a testament to how much we've bought into the capitalist mindset that these shows are some of the biggest draws.

Millions of people watch this so called reality TV. How about some actual reality, such as getting up off your ass and doing something *gasp* outside of the home? But wait, every night there are murders, rapes, robberies and acts of terrorism! We can't leave the house except to do our American duty, consume and work to earn our way out of the debt that consuming put us in. It's just not safe outside!!!! Television is not a method of entertainment, it is a method of control, a method of mental slavery.

Keep em distracted, keep em scared, keep em dumb. It's worked for many a corrupt government throughout the centuries. With the advent of 24 hour news, this is easier than ever. The leaders of this country work very hard to make us agoraphobic, compulsive, co-dependent consumers hooked on designer drugs, incapable of making informed, intelligent decisions.

It all makes you wonder... are we really capitalists anymore? Or are we now just part of world of Fascism where it doesnt really matter where you live unless you live somewhere were you make lots of money So you can then feed the evil that is The Corporate world.

It makes me sick how we are back to square one with The rich having control over our lives. Not only Can we as a people not do anything about it (because we are poor and poor=powerless) but our own Gov't is a big part of it! O the tangled web we weave

... Maybe ill fight back by buying 100 mega millions tickets tommorow. Hahaha i can only prayyyy for a maricle

Well it is somewhat ironic that the very things America was created for have found a home within its borders. The one difference between now and then is that anyone with enough brains, luck, and the right connections can become a millionaire. But, you have to spend money to make money, and that's where that caveat is.
