Default Barneys Farm Liberty Haze smoke/grow report

This is my first smoke report. I find it hard to describe my high most of the time so I hope this report is useful.

    Strain: Barneys Farm Liberty Haze

Growth: Flowered in 91 Days under 275w LED's. Very Sativa, Takes a long time to mature. Some heat stress in the first few weeks may have slowed progress. Topped @ 4 weeks. Grown in 2G Smart Pots with FFoF mixed with perlite.

    Nutes:
Very Basic. Veg: Jack's Classic All Purpose - Flower: Jack's Classic Blossom Bloomer & Cal-Mag. Flushed 10 days before harvest.

    Yield:
I cannot comment on yield with any authority as this was my first grow and I made mistakes.

    Bag Appeal:
8/10 Nice frosty nugs. Bright orange hairs. Light green buds with dark forest green highlights. Shit looks dank as hell.

    Smell:
6/10 Hard to describe. Kind of a mix of citrus and moldy tea leaves. Not unpleasant, Just different.

    Taste:
8/10 Nice & Smooth, Not harsh. The tea leaf smell is replaced with a more musky lemony flavor. It's the best way i can describe it.

    The High:
9/10 I want to rate this higher but I don't want to get carried away. What can I say? It begins as a clear headed, nervous, racy sativa high and just when your getting a hold on it it drops you almost into a speedy couchlock, if that makes sense? It seems cumulative as well. I start the day smoking this and functioning as best I can. By the end of the day I can barely keep my eyes open.

    Comments & Observations:
This was my first grow so take my review as such. I'm sure given a chance to grow this strain again it would be even better. The smell, the taste and I'm sure I could yield better and grow it in a shorter time. That being said this pheno is very sativa. She grows fast, tall and takes a long time to bloom but the smoke is totally worth it.

    And that's my story. Enjoy.

looks good man, from what ive read the tea leaf / hay / grass smell comes from drying to quickly. as you know im no expert but just to give you a heads up as to what it might be.

Thanks, This was my first from Barneys. Yeah, The BF sativas seem to be a bit finicky. I currently have a Critical Kush germing, Time to see how the Indicas do.

I have heard that as well but don't have much prior experience to confirm if that is true or just a myth. From what I have read normally a "tea smell" indicates an early harvest or the bud hasn't been properly dried/cured. I definitely did not harvest early. I'm still in the process of curing my bud, But it isn't too dry. The jars I'm curing in actually started to fog a bit yesterday and I had to take the buds out as I think they were still too wet, So I don't think I dried too fast. But I may be wrong.

The only thing I am sure of is the smell is not unpleasant and as the cure continues it is fading a bit, becoming smoother smelling and obtaining some citrus to it.

We'll see. Thanks for the heads up brett!

If your jars are fogging, watch them closely. Mold can take over quickly.

    Thanks for the advice cindysid.

I had the buds curing in small 16oz jars for about a week with hygrometers. Yesterday I found myself with an empty 32oz jar and decided to combine some small jars into that one. The buds were all big uncut main colas. Within a half hour I started seeing the fogging. I removed everything and they have been on a screen overnight. I'm going to re-jar them later and if the hygrometer jumps back up to 70% RH then it's back to the screen for me.

you should try curing in brown paper bags. it allows the buds to breath preventing mold growth.

i've never really heard of anyone curing in paper bags, drying yes, but out and out curing, not really...

jars are great because they don't impart any flavor into the buds and keep out all air / moisture that's not already in the buds out...

strain looks good as well op, nice smoke report, and killer first grow...

Arjan from green house seed co cures his buds in brown paper bags. He has specific grow videos for every strain he sells. at the end of every video he explains how to dry and cure the buds.
