On scale of 1 to 10 how worried should I be about the sea of seeds data leak? I'm at about a 12 right now and am walking around my house with a ar15 like a soldier. I have made 5 orders with them in the past and now everyone knows. :-( Does anyone know how long this info was available? Been growing for a decade and am thinking I might have to give it up now because of this bullsh?t.

3/10. Maybe expect spam and password fishing.
Well that makes me feel a little better I guess I won't chop everything just yet. I have a order from attitude coming has this ever happened to them before(knock on wood)?

OP do you know for sure your info was leaked?
Haven't seen it with my own eyes but I heard that the entire customer order list was on display. I'm gonna have to stick with the attitude now sea of seeds seems to be to much of a risk. I did a lot of buisness with them spending thousands but this combined with they're credit card system going haywire or hacked is too much.

Id be more worried about scammers spammers and bots than law enforcement. Is ordering seeds enough to get a warrant? Were they quick enough to capture all of that info before it was taken down? did the right jurisdiction find the info?

How smart and devoted to this are the cops in youre area?

I agree completely that they went way too far with this epic failure. But i'm not sure everyone's info was up. There was an estimated 11-13000 transactions posted. According to a few reports I read they stated that after you account for repeat customers it's an estimated 5-6000 people's info.

Hopefully they have 50000 customers and only 10% were affected. But either way there's nothing you can do about it. Worrying won't help. I also am an ex SoS custo. just keep your tight ship running and be cautious. Business as usual.

Ok lets clear this up sea of seeds wasn't hacked...

I was the one who found the error with sea of seeds site,
I was browsing around and doing some research on different seed company's when upon a quick google search I was able to view every order placed @ sea of seeds.
I tried to contact their site and didn't get through, I seen they sponsor here https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-seeds.php so I figured I would expose the problem so the information could be given to the right people .

What I think happened here is this company was focusing on orders and not so focused on there site. EM said they used a 3rd party to build there site. So it may have just been a site bug that has been there the whole time. Now as to why they keep your information that long I do not know.

As to your intital question of should you be worried? In this world you should never let your guard down.

Shotgun you are right sos was not hacked, the third party company has held there hands up to it (which we are dealing with legally) they said when they done an update last year on the payment by post they failed to check the security on them pages and in turn the pages were indexed now there were around 15 order conformation pages that were online, now the thousands of customer conformation pages we have were not indexed but if you used the link and change the order number at the end of the link this would of brought up the order with the the order number at the end of the link if that makes sense, this is why we shut the site down so these links would not work this left around 6 orders that were cached in google which most have been removed. Please also note Credit or debit card were NOT compromised as you only dealt with Sage pay through this process. Even though Sos had another company deal with the developing and maintaining of the site Sos has held there hands up even though they would never of known this would of or could of happened, We know we now have X customers due to this and completely understand, We would like to apologise to whom ever was at risk.
On another note we will not be using the site when we go live hopefully next week end we have been working on another site since last december with another developer so everyone that will use us again can rest assured this will not happen again we now have security measure's in place.
About the card problem we have been experiencing this is not unusual for seedbanks we have now got another facility in place as well as other payment options.
I hope this has answered most questions floating about....
Many thanks again for all the support we have had through this hard time :) We will be opening with a one off 1 week promo to say thanks.

Peace out

Importing seeds is a felony. They could get a warrant with that for sure. They can arrest you just for buying the seeds, they don't need to search your house. But they will.

I am confused, why are you walking around the house with an AR15 like a soldier? You gonna take on the police if they show up?
Gonna be the next big headline WHY MJ SHOULD BE BANNED!

You are walking proof that MJ is NOT a violentless drug. Good Job, you are now my hero.

You need to calm the hell down that was sarcasm everyone else except you understood that. I do have a ar15 but it's in my gun safe where it usually is. I'm not really fu#king pacing around with it I've been gettin high all weekend in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of Bob Marley's death. I'm not lookin for death but I won't go back to jail I can tell you that for damn sure. The main thrust of what I was saying was how worried should I be and should I quit growing because of this not should I go to battle with the pigs. Get off you're high horse and read my post in it's full context instead of being a dick and parsing out 1 thing.

So E M if I'm hearing you correctly only 6 customers had their stuff up on google? Then you would have to know the order number to find the others? I guess that makes me feel a little better I thought it was some big list for all to see like a phonebook.

You could still be prosecuted. You didn't live in Washington at the time, nor did you jump through whatever legal hoops they require. So you were in violation of Washington state law, and Federal law. Perhaps being a small fish in a big pond may save you.

If importing seeds were such a big deal, how come they dont follow up on seized seeds at customs? They have you dead to rights right there.

Agreed they never follow up on the customs love letters. So why would they now? And how many law enforcement agencies do you think saw the info?
