seeds. This is the first ever advert for

Most of SSSC stock didn't come from Sam, only a small fraction, if you look at the SSSC catalogue you'll see a lot of it is outdoor bred things from various growers all over Holland, mostly in the north, Victor Baarn, Beatrix Choice, Friesland Indica, those are all examples of strains created by individual Dutch growers. SSSC were a collective so many growers contributed strains to their catalogue.
Here is Nev's 1985 catalogue again, there isn't that much from Sam in it, just Sk1 and Afg1. Sam demands far more credit that he deserves, he's had 25 years to build hius legend and has done a good job, but it's largely mythical. Nev may well have used the Haze and Skunk from Sam a lot but he also did a lot of work with genes from other sources. Look at the 1987 catalogue, two years after buying the
seeds from Sam, the focus is not on Sam's genes at all, it is on Big Bud, Hash Plant and Northern Lights. Only things from Sam in the 87 catalogue are again, the Sk1 and Afg1, Cali Orange is there too, which Nev probably got from Sam, but Cali Orange isn't Sam's work (he claims it is) it was bred by Jerry Biesler and Sam merely bought
seeds of it from Jerry's ex-wife. Jerry B was the first person to have a seedbank and he also sold Cali Orange t-shirts. The Durban Poison may have come from Sam as well. Sam wrote at icmag about introducing that Durban but others say the Bay Area Durban Poison was actually from Sandy Weinstein. Sandy is also said to be the original breeder of Early Girl, which I think is another of the strains Sam sold to Nev.
Looking at the 88 catalogue, Haze appears for the first time, as does G13.
Nev can probably correct me on this, but apart from Sk1, Afg1 and Haze, I just don't see what from Sam played much of a part in Nev's work, the Afg1 was used in a couple of hybrids but soon dropped, the Sk and Haze were used a lot, but in both of those cases Sam was not the original breeder of those strains anyways, merely the vehicle that got them to the commercial scene in Holland.
I'm happy to give Sam credit for what he did do, but also keen to avoid giving him credit for things that were the work of others.
Jerry B is reclusive but can be contacted by telephone or letter, Sandy Weinstein is sadly RIP, Mendo Joe and the other key figures of Sacred
seeds are all dead, imprisoned or long gone from the scene, this is how Sam got away with claiming credit for all their work, they haven't been around to give their side of the stories.
