I am seeking opinions on whether feminized seeds are worth the added cost.

That all depends on your setup and patience. If you have the room to grow a dozen plants and you don't mind spending money on growing them then it probably isn't worth it to spend five times the cash for seeds. If you only have a tiny box and want to get the most out of your space then it is probably worth it!

Personal opinion. Varies from person to person.

I agree with mogie...I never have used fem seeds, but I'm about to have my first experience [and I'm looking forward to it!]...

Me being a virgin grower, my first order was femanized seeds just because I didn't want to manage a large grow room and have to worry about sexing 5 or more plants to get my sexy ladies.

and part of the decision should be legality. if you're not growing legally then it's worth spending money to have less plants in your grow. spend the money now to reduce legal fees and fines later...on the awful odds that we might all get busted sooner or later.

I think its very worth it. If your guerilla gardening, and say you want 10 plants in the end, istead of ordering 20 seeds and hoping for a 50/50 male to female ratio, you just order 10 feminized. it will cost more on seeds, but in the end you will end up taking care of half the amount of plants. This means spending less on fertilizers and such, spending less time taking care of them, and less of a chance of sombody stumbling upon them. for the extra $50 or so, its definetly worth it.

fems are great but some strains breed hermies. due to the nature of how they breed feminized seeds sometimes you will get bad genitics. nirvana tests there fems and they will soon be back in stock not all seedbanks test the fem seeds.

I used fem seeds for my first grow, I paid 110 for ten white widow but I will never buy fem seeds again now, it seems strange to me now that they are more expensive, with fem seeds the seedbank retains control and you have to keep going back to buy them, if you get a a mix, grow them out keep one male and they you have all the seeds you will need. if you can do that you have no need to use the seedbnak again and they have lost future business so you would expect mixed to be more expensive.
