I'm quite surprised that nobody has sequenced the Cannabis plant and produced a genetically modified strain yet. They have done this with just about every major crop and with livestock. For instance, wild salmon has a gene that limits their growth to a certain season. Scientists have created a strain of salmon with this gene that grows 3 times as fast. How is it they do this with salmon but not with weed?

Really, nobody produces food using selective breeding anymore - it's all done through modification of DNA. Looks like these "breeders" are still living in the dark ages.

Who has the resources for this? It's not like there is federal funding for weed modification via genetics. I don't think the dutch government wouldn't fund that sort of thing either.
