Default Depression/Back Pain...strain?
Most of the weed I get around here is not really helping my symptoms like they used to and I think it's because it isn't the true, nicely grown medical marijuana you see grown with care. We still have 16/17 year old growers just growing some dank hydro, lulz. So, when I move up to Vancouver and hopefully get my card i'll be growing what I need and wanted to know a good strain for depression and back pain with outmaking me tired.

I've found that white widow properly grown (aka organic - just taste's better) does well with any sort of ache & pain I might have, however be aware of her "couch lock" effect.

I am not an expert on actual medicinal marijuana but from my personal experience with the substance and with both pain and depression it seems to me that you are asking for something that does not exist.

For depression you would want something that gives you a high, that makes you feel happy and motivated and that would be a sativa. The thing is that sativas are not known for their ability to do anything about pain.

An indica, especially a heavy one, will help with pain but they tend to bring you down and that is not beneficial when it comes to dealing with depression.

I have never run across a strain that handles both problems at the same time very well. Whatever cross I have tried one of the plants genetics overpowered or blended with the other plants genetics enough so you would get one of the two desired effects but not both or just a little of the two desired effects but not much of either. There are some that will help one problem well or half well and slightly help the other but most will help one but not help the other or possibly exasperate the other, at least in the case of depression.

You can use a heavy indica and it will ‘mask’ the depression in that you will be such a zombie that you will not think or care about anything or much of anything but it will not be uplifting and it will not make you happy and make you feel motivated. Basically it will allow you to run and hide from depression but it will not be a temporary fix for it making you feel like whistling and skipping for joy.

Now there may be something out there that I have never tried and have never read about that will do both. For your sake I hope such a strain exists and that you find it but in my experience it seems to be an either or situation in that no cross will really do both of what you want in the way that I tend to believe you would want it to.

I sincerely hope that someone else says they know of some strain or strains that will do what you need but I do not know of any that will give you the relief you are looking for in the way I tend to believe you are trying to find at the same time.

You may have to shoot for one or the other or grow different types and depending on your present condition use one or the other and maybe you will have to find something that will be a middle of the road option that will do a little of both at the same time but not give major relief to both problems at the same time. I hope I am wrong but that is all that I have ever run across or read about.

My suggestion would be to research medical marijuana strains and their effects and see if one or some do in fact help with both problems at the same time. With there being so very many strains/crosses to chose from one or some may exist that are not major names, not the flavor of the month buzz that most people salivate for but to find if one or several will do what you need may take actual research instead of just asking growers since most growers do not seem to be growing for medicinal purposes and instead for the type of high or buzz or stone they simply enjoy and not something they physically or psychologically need.

Ouch dude, that sounds painful - I hope you locate something that helps with that. BTW, if I were you I'd look at something with a Sativa mix so you dont end up feeling like someone dropped a piano on your head.
Try "Flo" or "Flying Dragon" - they are tasty, potent and yet still give you an "Up" buzz.

I've got 25 years experience on the dark side of depression. Do I get the job?

I've been researching, developing my growing skills and testing strains for the past 5 years. I've got 6 strains that I'm growing now that are good, some great, and I'm bringing in a new strain every couple of months or so. I'm compiling a list of strains that I want to test and the effects strains have on resistant depression and mania.

I've found that both indicas and sativas can help, different strains at different times of the day and for different mental pain. A clear headed sativa like Kali Mist is a great all day smoke; you might want something stronger at night if you need to check out, like Train Wreck or Sour Diesel. Blueberry is a great euphoric stone - for when you want to chill and watch Star Trek reruns; Bubblegum (Serious) is a great euphoric high if you want to be social or go surfing.

I'll post my sativa list and some med lists I've picked up, I'll post some other stuff later.
