    Can a 315w cmh sufficiently light a 2x4 tent?

A single 315W CMH will do. If you can control heat it can handle two.

    Understanding CFM (speed controllers)

The fan and filter are much larger than they need to be. I'm not over emphasizing the cost of running it .. I'm using that energy in other places. In comparison to this mystical fan you speak of, mine uses 165 watts less. With that savings I can power 9 18" Sunblaster LEDs. I could light a 2x2...

    Understanding CFM (speed controllers)

Will be keeping this in mind .. Yes, Phresh 701005. Thanks for your input. I run around 50% to control the negative pressure and keep sound down (it's a big fan for this area). It's also cheaper on electricity but if smell becomes an issue I will crank it up.

    Understanding CFM (speed controllers)

Thanks for sharing. This is a Phresh filter rated 400 CFM. I couldn't find a minimum recommendation to run this filter's fan.

    Understanding CFM (speed controllers)

Straightforward; thank you. Hyper fans include a speed controller that reduces as low as 35%. I was just concerned that running it this low could put strain on the fan. Fair point on using underpowered fans but they're quiet and save energy. It's a stretch to say if they really are...

    Understanding CFM (speed controllers)

I'm using a fan rated 315 CFM with a carbon filter rated 400 CFM.. can I dim the fan down to 35% with the speed controller? I don't fully understand how CFM works with carbon filters. At 35%, the fan is only pulling about 110 CFM through the 400 CFM filter. No problem, or should I crank the...

    Amature build

Here are the cobs I'm using Looks like all the measurements payed off I don't want those four center heatsinks to be offset by the rivet under each one (re: the rivet holding the two center brackets for the driver). I have a few days to think of a plan - maybe 1/16" high heat...

    Amature build

'Preciate the input on the tents; I'll see what I can source. I do have the option of mounting the driver outside of the tent but I'll probably mount it in the center of the light. I like the idea of having the whole light as one unit, ready to move and plug in anywhere. I have the proper...

    Amature build

Thanks for the response! No worries; this frame measures 44"x17.5". My main goal with the design was even light coverage ( by proper cob spacing) but I also need room to maneuver the light within the tent. The heatsinks I've purchased are pre drilled and include the hardware. I agree though...

    Amature build

You've all inspired me to build a light (and grow space) of my own; check it out and follow my progress. :leaf: Goals: Even light coverage Energy efficient Simple (minimal plugs, timers, etc) Versatile I've decided to use 1 cob per sq. foot and design a frame suitable for a 2x4 room. I...
