    Water Cooling CXA 3070

I was thinking Peltier to maybe charge my batteries or something, and possibly a small turbine to take advantage of the current in the cooling reservoir. Cool test, there are a bunch of efficiency discussions in other posts about the Cree CXA 3070 efficiency and my bin info should be at the...

    Water Cooling CXA 3070

Makes sense, I'll probably just grab some prefab L channel and hanging wire. I use the heat to heat a floor in the winter but I'm still researching how to recapture the heat as energy to use for cooling the room in the summer. The setup I have is more efficient than 25/75 light/heat, it's...

Do you think quarter inch would be thick enough to avoid flexing? With water in it the light is pretty heavy.

I saw one guy that bought spring tension screws and had a metal cutter make plates to hold them on but that seems costly.

@SSGrower yeah I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do the thermal epoxy next, that and amend the way it's hanging so weight is more evenly distributed. Other than that this has been an excellent investment imo.

Yeah, I thought about going copper, but the price was kinda high and I plan on adding a radiator to the reservoir and a copper radiator is pretty pricey.

Yeah, I used thermal paste and zip ties so I could easily change out wiring or cobs given I learned to solder for this project and some of the solders were shite. My design definitely has a few issues but honestly leaking isn't one. I did rigorous testing before even switching it on, and the use...

I mean I can't speak for anyone else but I haven't had any issues with watercooling. People watercool multi thousand dollar computers every day. You just have to take care of your connections.

Revolution Micro AVICI LED 1150w at the wall

Side note, my 1000w led project cost around 1400USD. However if I ran them hard and improved the cooling a bit it could be a 2000-2200w fixture and last probably half as long or maybe a bit less

Revolution Micro AVICI LED 1150w at the wall

With that price per watt I would assume they're driving everything hard, it'll still be a kickass light but won't last as long as something with a higher price tag. It might also not be as bright given that a higher current has a diminishing return unless you have truly impressive heat management.

@Wunderwi Very nice setup, that's a gorgeous light. I see you're supplementing your spectrum, do you think it's necessary? My results with the 3070s were the best I've had or even seen around in years. These are a Jock Horror pheno I'm very happy with.

Hey all, so the light had been in use for around six months now and it's doing great! If my eyes don't deceive me I'm in for a record harvest, for me at least. They're definitely looking extra frosty as well. All joints and seals are in good shape, my recirculation pump got clogged once and...

    I've been lazy and haven't gotten things wired yet but I did this. Parts List - 10' of 1" PVC pipe from Lowe's $4 - 8x 1" PVC slip on T joints from Lowe's $16 - 1x 1" PVC slip on cross joint from Lowe's $3 - 10x 1" PVC slip on 90° elbow joint from Lowe's $20 -4x 1" PVC slip on to 3/4" thread...

So, it turns out that grommets as a means of sealing suspended plumbing sucks. So I decided to use what I'm comfortable with and made this instead. I sealed all the joints with primer and cpvc cement, except for the intake and outtake barbs which I used a thread sealer on. Of course to my...

So I got my first tube up and running. I did some temp tests with my multimeter and I got some alarming readings. My temp at the surface of the LED was pushing 340F but the Tc measured on the point Cree suggests was about 110F, is this normal? If I'm understanding this correctly then I'm fine as...

I considered epoxy but don't want to deal with removal like majins said. I also think getting those pressure springs and two machined plates would distribute constant even pressure which I've read is beneficial. A couple dollars more than the epoxy for sure, but I can reuse these if I switch to...

DrMisunderstood, that looks like an awesome setup, I probably should've gone for copper but I thought it would be significantly more expensive. My 1'' square aluminum tube with .125'' walls was almost $50 for the 20' I got. Did you have any issues with leakage around the mounting screws in your...

So far I'm leaning towards something like this built with PVC and sealed to the tube with a grommet and some RTV sealant or silicone caulk. Any thoughts?
