First scrogg, opinions? Very last minute.

When it comes to those types of lights, the 38W being equivalent to 300W is only referring to lumen output and probably those Halogen work lights. If it is a true 5000k, It will definitely help but @ only 38w, you may need more than one for it to cover your entire space. For 50 bucks tho, It...

First scrogg, opinions? Very last minute.

Ya... Should have seen the look on my face when it did tho :/ We got to get you some LED man! Even if you add just a bit of white light to your set up, you'll notice a difference! Your canopy looks great BTW! Cheers!

    Smart pot transplant root growth

The roots grow right through like ghosts walk through walls. We have potted 1qt fabric pots directly into 20gal fabric pots without skipping a beat. You will want to bury the smaller pot so the soil line is even. You can place it right on top and the roots will grow through, but then you have to...

First scrogg, opinions? Very last minute.

Looking good up there Tyler! @abaloneandbuds... Yes there is such a thing. But you only learn how hot the fire is when you get burned. When I repositioned the branches heavily to fill an empty area, this happened. It was a day or two later when she broke. This branch supported about 1/4 of...

    The COB club

This is a great thread! I remember a time when LEDs were new and so few knew what they were capable of. And even fewer had the balls to try it. There were threads upon threads bashing LEDs, and threads within those threads bashing white light. It is quite refreshing to see that times have...

    Express Worm Feeding Tip

When ever we make carrot juice, the pulp is sent to the worm bins. There are times when feeding them is not convenient so the bags of pulp sit for a few days. In the past, the worms seem to take their time getting through all the carrot pulp (weeks). One day, some plain white rice was thrown out...

Everything you know about composting is wrong

The man is absolutely right about the coffee grounds. I had tubs of old organic soil mixed with hay that was taking a while to break down. Called the local St@rbucks when they opened and had 5lbs of freshly made used coffee grounds ready by noon. Mixed it in generously and within a day or two...

When should I dump my compost?

Just an idea if you are looking to speed up decomposition... If it is available to you, toss in a good amount of alfalfa meal with used coffee grounds. This will heat up your pile and get things going just a bit quicker. Some biochar and micronized rock dust wouldn't hurt either. Cheers!

    Flowering with 14 hours light

Would it be possible to get an explanation on what happens with plants in nature after the sun goes down? Don't they get a daily dose of the far red light too?

    Flowering with 14 hours light

I have read that blue light inhibits etiolation (stretching) and my experience with various light sources corroborate this. If the FR light promotes it, what do you think would happen if it is used only after the initial stretch? Here is a picture of an experiment I performed with MH and HPS...

    Flowering with 14 hours light

The problem with this measurement is that the wavelength of light that we want to measure is outside of the PAR meter's sensitivity range and there fore limited. An UPRTEK Spectroradiometer may be sensitive enough as I believe it dips into 800nm territory. Maybe an actual experiment is called for.

Anyone ever heard of Super Glue?

Please keep us updated! I'll post pics as soon as they get bigger. They are just wee lil nubs right now.

Anyone ever heard of Super Glue?

I just got cuts of the superglue. Never smoked it but it looks very nice from where I'm sitting @killAgreenguy! Can you tell us more about what we can expect to see growing this cultivar? (stretchy, how does it like to be trained? etc.) I am licking my screen now. Cheers!

Led lighting options for a 4x8

Went down the LED rabbit hole before and I never made it back. The technology has definitely made leaps and bounds since its introduction to horticulture. Few tips... 1. Grab a full spectrum model i.e. something with white light. (tested burple against white COBs and wouldn't you know...)...

    Flowering with 14 hours light

Just curious... Did you notice a faster finishing time in 14/10?

    Flowering with 14 hours light

In my experiences playing with longer photoperiods in the reproductive (flowering) phase, the longer hours produced a bit more weight with slightly larger buds but it didn't double my yield. They did, however, seem to finish a bit sooner than the plants on the 12/12 schedule. At the time, I had...

    Has anyone ....

If you are into organics, beneficial teas sprayed on the plants up until week 4 have prevented mold and bud rot on an outdoor grow I had in the past. It prevented a lot of things actually. Caterpillars, mites, you name it. BTW, it rained hard several times and even for a week in late flower...

    Question about soil drainage

If you were to put a wicking substrate such as GrowStones in the bottom 2" of your pot, you wouldn't need the pump. Look into Subirrigated planters or Subirrigation to see how this works. They save me a lot of time and they keep the soil moisture just right... all the time.
