You will probably see those older roots die off / become less of a factor and the new ones absolutely explode and take over. I notice it a lot when transplanting from cuttings :)

Yeah and Apollo's are cheap enough that if you decide to frame it out later, not a huge loss. You can always hock 'em on Craigs if you decide to go more perma. Happy growing :)

I second the above, you totally CAN do it, but it's not a great idea if you're new to orchids. You should probably go with already grown orchids and learn to care for them first, then go for growing from seed!

Have yet to hear good things about the DE 630s. Seems like the Philips Mastercolor 4200K / 3100K is still best in class, though they don't offer a 630. I have buddies who are just using 2x 315w setups instead of going up to the 630. Makes sense that Philips lamps would still be best, just since...
