What color temp for my COB veg light?

If I keep these current lights for flower i'll go 5k 90cri. edit: You only have the CLU1212 Gen6 90cri's in 5.7k so that would be the spectrum probably Will I regret not having the 90cri for my 3500k flower lights? Sold out of them when I ordered. I could do the other suggestion & use these for...

What color temp for my COB veg light?

Howdy, Converted two mars2 panels to 3500k citizen clu 1212 for flower, looking to convert my other two panels over now for my veg light. Was thinking 4500k off the top. I've read all the spectrums between 4k-5k are good but wanted to know what you all found to work best personally. Thanks!

Mars 2 400 Cob conversion: Driver questions

Howdy guys, converting my two Marshydro 2 400's to cob lights. The initial phase is going to be the growmau5 tutorial on youtube, simply mounting a new COB outfitted plate and connecting the original drivers. The second conversion will be to remove the stock drivers and replace them either...

Approve my build? Numbers seem slightly off

Who is cobby? Everywhere I look online the CLU 1212's gen 6 3500k's @ 90cri are sold out.....sucks :( edit: Found cobkits.com and entered the RIU discount. went with CLU 1212's gen 6's at 80cri. Doing the mars 2 conversion that I saw growmau5 do on youtube, two panels running 6 cobs each...

Approve my build? Numbers seem slightly off

Was looking up lights and stumbled on the timberlights web site, they got a citizen buildout, 300w 1.4a with 6 cobs for less than 500....that is really attractive. I'm finding it hard to find the individual pinned heat sinks at a decent price, most are 20-25 each. The kits seem decently priced...

Approve my build? Numbers seem slightly off

Could you PM me a bit about your build? Just the bare bones (in particular the cob model, driver and a link to your passive pin cooling) Thanks man, down to save some $$

Approve my build? Numbers seem slightly off

I really wanted to build a light with low current, 1.4 ma is twice the draw from the wall right? I mean aside from running less cobs and driving them harder, I thought they were less efficient at the wall.

Approve my build? Numbers seem slightly off

So, I've decided to delve into a 3x3 cob build and trying to maximize efficiency at the wall. I was hoping to pull off a HLG 320H-c700 with 12x CXB 3590's, but when I divide the forward voltage of the driver with 36v it comes out to driving 11.8888 cobs. Whats confusing is when I calculate...

The link to the Calculator download seems to be dead, anyone have an alt?

Cob drive amperage & effective penetration

I realized after the fact that I could also run 16x @ 1050ma using 2x HLG 320H-c1050's @ 305 forward volts. Pretty set on this build, great mix of efficiency power & canopy coverage.

Damn it seems the link for the calculator download is dead. Last comment to mention it was on the 1st

Cob drive amperage & effective penetration

Cool, so with this wealth of new information my updated project light spec's. If this doesn't look right feel free to chirp in 2x HLG 320H-c1050's (305 forward volts) 16x CXB 3590 3500k 4x 36"x 5.888" Heatsinks (unless you convince me to drop on the sexy pin ones) 640w Output 380ish Par/w...

Cob drive amperage & effective penetration

Damn dude that is legit. Which driver are you using for your second example? I have some notes on the Mean Well 185h-c1050 that I took off growmau5's videos, & he was saying at 179v forward voltage it could power 5 CXB3590's, and the HLG 240hc1050b could power 6. Seems I would be short running...

Cob drive amperage & effective penetration

After all the input, gonna go with 2x 700ma drivers and 16x CXB 3590's. for the 4x4 space. Initial costs will be higher but hopefully I can make up for it in sheer efficiency. 400w total (was tempted to go 600w but I think that might be overkill)

PhotonFUD that is a great answer thank you. I realize that was what I meant to ask, the effective range/throw.

Cob drive amperage & effective penetration

Wow guys really stoked on the feedback, wasn't expecting such an active community! I suppose Cobkits hit the nail on the head with the Inverse Square Law, that was more what I meant by penetration. I have tested my home grow with a PAR meter from work, and managed 1200 at the top of my...
