    Basement grow room

That's a space many of us can only dream about, but a first grow utilizing that much space seems like a pilot doing their first solo in a jet. Consider starting small and simple. With that much space you could start a new crop each month, incorporating lessons learned. You'll then be able to...

    315cmh CLOSET GROW

Glad you found your answers as I take a hands off approach (to nutes and watering). I mix a dry veg amendment into the soil a couple times, and the same with a dry bloom (Growilla in both cases). i also use an auto watering system delivering just water, so really all I do is watch for issues and...

    >2weeks till harvest. Leaves started falling off. Let it go?

Some clarifications, by "covered the tops" I meant the tops of the pots, and DE is Diatomaceous earth.

    >2weeks till harvest. Leaves started falling off. Let it go?

My grow is a week or two behind yours (12 on 11-jan) and I experienced the same symptoms a week or two ago. I believe there were three possible causes in my case (fungus gnats, high heat, and over watering). I corrected all three and the situation has greatly improved. I'm not seeing any new...

Welcome New Members! Read this before posting!

Welcome HuntAk. I'll be vacationing in Anchorage in July so I'm hoping they have some public dispensaries going by then. I'm also considering building some LEDs as I can't find what I want on the market (small units for side lighting). Good luck and congrats on living in a free state!

    1st Grow NL using HPS

I do believe the CFLs have generate some good lower buds, but they also generate a lot of heat. So I've had to play with the number of CFLs I can add without running up the cab temp. I'm using some large CFLs, (68 watt, 4200 lumin) but even the smaller ones put off a lot of heat compared to LEDs.

    Fungus Gnats!!

Wet dead roots almost certainly equal fungus gnats, but the opposite isn't necessarily true. I recently removed two plans (with gnats) and the roots were fine (as were the plants, there just wasn't room for them). Even in 2 gallon pots there were no roots in the top few inches of soil, so at...

Just read up on diatomaceous and that does sound perfect, thanks.

What do you think is the best distance from bulbs for the beggining?

I should have included that I run my room at around 28c, so I'm not saying that's to warm for mature plants, but I've wasted many good seeds with too much water and being too aggressive with the light distance. Damp and 24c is seems to be pretty safe.

What do you think is the best distance from bulbs for the beggining?

Be careful of the heat. My setup requires really short plants and I do okay with using small pots and side lighting to control height. It's common to read that plants stretch for distant light, but I don't see how a plant can measure distance. I do believe that they can detect how much light...

    16"x16" cabinet scrog

That's what I set out looking for, but then figured out how to make use of what they sold (I just ran it like intestines over about a ten foot run). More air means more static pressure though, so it does take a decent fan to use this much duct.

    Fungus Gnats!!

Gnats are said to only hatch on the surface, so there should be no need to mess with the underlying soil and roots. Try letting the soil dry and watering infrequently. I use an automatic watering system that uses a 12 hour interval, so I can't take my own advise on this one. The top of the soil...

    16"x16" cabinet scrog

Sorry to have high-jacked this for a fan/filter discussion, but it was a challenge for my setup so I'm always interested in what others are doing. Kevin, one idea is to look for a spot away from the grow cabinet where a stronger fan and filter could be placed (an adjoining closet, attic...

    16"x16" cabinet scrog

Cool, I hadn't heard of that. I ended up building "fan and filter cab" that's attached to the grow cab. My 4" inline fan is noisy fan so that allowed me to insulate it really well. Some noise escapes, but you'd really have to be listening for it. I created a diagram for another thread so I'll...

    16"x16" cabinet scrog

I assume the tight dimensions mean stealth is important, so how are you dealing with the smell? My setup is similar by volume (wider and shorter) and have to run a filter/fan a from couple weeks into veg onward.. I could never go through bloom without a filter.

    Botanicare Growilla grow/bud

I assume spending lots of money and time on nutes makes a big difference or people wouldn't do it, but this stuff makes it cheap, easy, and hard to blow. adding the nutes dry to the soil also allows the use an auto watering system, so all I routinely do is add water to the tank before ten days...
