i cannot use ro water please help

Reverse osmosis water is not nearly as good quality as people think. I don't know what marketing magic they used to make people think of it as the end all of water purification but it isn't. It often Doesn't remove chemical compounds who's molecular structure is smaller than water molecules...

    Aquaponics- the Dream build.

Snail- once i looked at your set up i read about a really cool barrel system being manufactured by a charity organization and set up all over Africa! It uses 3X 55 gallon drums And a tiny solar power pump. The first barrel is the fish tank. Is positioned at the very bottom laid on its side...

I can see what your saying about the potential for deoxygenated dead spots in a flood and drain bed. Especially a big deep square with 90 digree corners. And in general terms I don't think of soil less media as a pure form of hydroponics at all really. BUT it's the only system of aquaponics I...

    Week one dwc Turning YELLOW

Notice most of the currently practicing hydro guys are all saying one of two things. 1) start hydro from seed or clone instead of forcing your plant to adapt from primary soil roots to primary water roots. Or 2) the plant doesn't look too bad for a young plant to me. And they are right in...

Replacing my drip system. Which way to go?

When I say aero and DWC are chief competitors im speaking purely on yield statistics. Flood and drain is an awesome system and when I imagine my dream set up it always includes a 12 inch flood and drain primary grow bed. The down side is that it's still a soil less system and not true...

    Industry standard hydroponics

The DWC the university of Alabama teaches is a floating raft over a trench style long shallow reservoir and has no drip. So I think it doesn't really add anything to DWC. And DO is a function of gas exchange So with a large enough surface area to volume ratio you don't need to bubble either

Without a specific analysts of the micronutrients It's hard to tell but as far as additives go in ANY system Iknow it's really hard to mess up with worm tea. If I was using some great compost in a worm box and just using that I bet it would be fine. As far as adding back in micro nutes anyway...

Replacing my drip system. Which way to go?

If you accept that DWC and aero are the two chief competitors of the hydro world... I think the next question is What can aero do that DWC can't And what can DWC do that aero can't Im a DWC guy so I will answer to my experience In the final phase of flowering using DWC to lower the...

Buy a Berkey water filter. Gravity feed zero ppm. 10,000 gallons per filter change.

    Aquaponics- the Dream build.

I think the way I would do it is with a 300 gallon fish tank into a flood and drain table sitting above the fish tank draining via auto siphon back into the tank and aerating as it falls so it would run the entire system on just a single pond pump. I would grow strawberries and tomatoes and...

    Aquaponics- the Dream build.

My old university agricultural program had an aquaponics teaching lab. Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture and hydroponics into a recirculating system. Aquaculture is fish farming. The big picture - a large reservoir that fish are grown intense density that through the bacterial...

Lost power for 4 days this past winter. Was 6 weeks into flower and the plants were drinking a gallon of water a day. Worst possible timing. I literally slept in the box and tripple wrapped the whole thing in blankets to keep temps above freezing. Brought my dogs in too. Using that and the above...

Hydroton (expanded clay) retains slightly more fluid than pearlite and that helps me use slightly smaller net pot filled media but still retain the minimum safety buffer from "drought" conditions if the power goes out. Tho in DWC running out of water isn't the biggest threat to rapid plant...

Sodium carbonate and silica buffer ph through an ADsorbtion method much like activated carbon in your air scrubber except silica adsorbs to only molecules of much greater or much lesser PH than itself. Absorb is taking molecules into yourself ADsorb is bonding yourself to a molecule Think of...
