Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

Some more pics: Chopped the outdoor sour diesel today - all of my outdoor plants have been harvested. Here's the SD in the drying rack. The SD was the smallest plant, probably get 2-3oz on this one. The Blue Dream and Satori were both over 4 oz. Here's the 3 plants I've been spraying with...

Vero 18s, 29s and a cabinet full of stanky goodness

I've been off the grid for a few weeks. Super busy with work, and had to travel to Michigan for a week too. The fem seed project is underway, I've been spraying a few females for a couple weeks. They started off throwing female pistols, but as I keep spraying I'm seeing some balls start to form...

Area 51 Why wait, seems you can buy cree cobs lights now

RIU should split the LED forum into 2 sections - make one a DIY section where people would likely be pretty chill, learning how to build a light and researching new components. The other section would be a Commercial light section with no rules - it would turn into a giant poop throwing contest...

    great value led bulbs

I think adding a couple 2700k bulbs to your grow sounds like a great idea. My indoor lettuce garden has a 4' LED shop light from Home Depot hanging over it, and is supplemented with 2 5000k Phillips LED bulbs. It will grow lettuce no problem. Not very efficient at around 100lm/w or 30%...

    great value led bulbs

It is a pretty good design idea - it would be cool to be able to quickly swap out some LED bulbs to go from veg to flower on a lamp. The bulbs that are out there now are not worth it though. Even the cob bulbs I looked at are all low power, low efficiency cobs. Maybe someday. I'd never buy one of...

    great value led bulbs

It's depressing looking at the lm/w efficiency of most of the screw in bulbs. While they are an improvement over incandescent and CFLs, when compared CXBs or Veros, they are awful. The best screw in bulbs I've seen are the Phillips or Great Value bulbs at about 103 lm/w, most are < 100 lm/w. I...

    ...All Things Vero...

I used M3.5 on my V18s and 29s, it worked OK, but if I remember right it was snug. Not sure M4 would work unless you drilled the hole size a little bit larger (not recommending that).

There's at least this guy growing with PLC lights besides GG. https://www.rollitup.org/t/pacific-light-concepts.882496/

The only thing not answered on his website (yes, the site with the 's' in the address and is hyperlinked in the post you replied to) is the bin of CXBs, which has already been answered. It states the drivers used, and in the About section it states that the light is designed in the US and made...

    great value led bulbs

Do you have a link for those @FranJan ? I'm interested in supplemental lighting for an indoor lettuce/spice garden, and if those are decent priced I might pick up a couple and use the Phillips bulbs to light my garage.

    great value led bulbs

Those look pretty similar to the Phillips LED bulbs I bought at Home Depot, same shape and about the same lumen/watt (one of the few screw in bulbs I've seen that have > 100 lumen watt). The price looks the same as HD too. I wonder if they are re-branded Phillips bulbs...

    ...All Things Vero...

I soldered my Vero 18 and 29s, and if you've done any soldering before you'll have no trouble with it. Just be careful not to tug or snag the wires on anything once the wire is soldered to the pad. I almost ripped a soldering pad off one of my Vero 29s when a wire caught on something. The cob...

Cool, and good luck with your build. BTW, I'm a former Michigander - most of my family still lives in W Mich, but I moved away in 2000 when I decided I had my fill of the frigid winters. I'll actually be in Grand Rapids next week on a work trip and thought about making a quick trip to...

Agree that it's a legit question, my aggression was more of a personal frustration with OneHit's inability to ever acknowledge anything positive regarding COBs in general. I should have just zipped my lip, but I was on the rag that day. Hope we can all smoke a bowl and get back to posting DIY...

Two thumbs up for the EZ cloner. All new cuttings had a small clump of 1" roots within 5-6 days, and have been planted in some coco and are now veging. I had to cut off the bottoms of the stems on the older cuts that had been in coco, since the bottom of the stem had turned brown and weren't...

Help me build a large CXA3070 Rig

If you want to dim, you'll need the potentiometer. If you want guidance with a build, you probably should start a thread to keep from hijacking HockeyBeard's thread any more than we have.

That driver can be dimmed 3 different ways. With a PWM, 1-10vdc, or resistance (which is what the 100k pot provides). Most people use the 100k pot to dim, since the pots are cheap and it's easy to wire up. Some have recommended to use the 10k resistor along with 100k pot to prevent dimming the...

    Think ive been led astray

Interesting first sentence in the ad below, coming from a company that claims their 400w light is comparable to a 1000w HPS when it's clearly not.

If you're worried about COB exposure to the environment then put a lens on it. Problem solved. So far as I can tell, growers have been using Cree cobs on RIU for close to 2 years now, and the only failures I know of were due poorly applied TIM causing the cob to fry. I have yet to see anyone...

    Twisteds outdoor

Most growers are spraying once a week with spinosad or BT to keep the bud worms under control. It's a non toxic solution, both of them are just bacteria that kill the worms but won't cause issues to the buds. I picked one small worm off my GG4 plant this morning, but it's the only one I've found...
