    Leaf Mold Identification Assistance [Pics]

I'm looking for assistance in identifying this leaf mold. It has the appearance of a trichome and persists only under the cloning dome of fresh cuttings or in dead leafy matter accumulating under the plants. Any help in naming this culprit would be greatly appreciated.

    Upgrade Ballasts?

Is it true that you'll get 30% more light from a good electronic ballast vs a magnetic? I have a magnetic ballast and the best I've gotten with it is .91gpw. I probably could break 1gpw but the plant needed some more support. If I upgrade, what kind of performance increase could I see?

The Biggest Misconception In Indoor Lighting Broken Down By Dgl

@dgl, are you running glass on that hood? If so, you're not getting any appreciable amount of UV. You are right in that there are differences between in vivo and in vitro for light absorption by plants. You're also right that UV is "believed" to stimulate terpene production in plants (Along...

    1K per m^2

Well, 30 isn't exactly optimum. Here's some more research they did: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3550580/ "To study the temperature response of photosynthesis in the different varieties ofC. sativa, leaves of each variety were exposed to 20 °C, 25 °C, 30 °C, 35 °C and 40 °C...

    1K per m^2

The part that bothers me is they only tested temperature/ppf combinations. If you look down further for the table they have the photosynthesis vs CO2 concentrations and it doesn't say what lighting levels were used for that. However, I did notice the biggest jump is between 250-350 which I...

    1K per m^2

@ttystikk so wait, isn't PPFD just the amount of par light reaching the plants? I guess I'm mistaken in my above post. What I meant was 1500-2000 umol/s/m^2 PPFD was found to contain optimum WUE et. al with enriched CO2 environment and temperature. We're assuming the light is measured at the...

LOL..I guess SOG is out of the question then? ;)

    1K per m^2

1K per m^2, anyone done it? The reason I ask is because I believe it's what's really required if you're going to increase CO2 and run high temps. I mean I've heard 2000umol/s/m^2 at 1200ppm CO2 and I think 1500umol/s/m^2 at 800ppm CO2 as optimum for cannabis growth from a few different...

    Arduino Watering by Moisture

Nifty article. Of course it can be done but you'll have to pay attention at first to figure out which pots are going to dry out the fastest and base the watering on them. I've noticed that it's not always so obvious which will dry out first heh heh.

    Make your own silicablast cheap

They've forgotten stuff from my order before too. I called them and they didn't even question it they just sent it out immediately. Not sure what your issue was. Should probably not be using that stretch stopper either as I'm pretty sure it leaves some nasty residue but I could be wrong.

    potential yield for 12x12 w/ LED'S?

The problem I've had with LED's is heat. Last time I used them I vegged for a week and ended up with 3' plants where the tops were all stressed from keeping the LEDs close enough to provide some of the lower area with some light so I only got like 0.4GPW. Highest I've gotten is 0.7GPW. This...

    Disorderly Light Theory

What do you use your waste heat for ttystikk? FWIW, I was also imagining some ideas to create COB A/C hoods for when they come down in price. Basically a big rectangular piece of duct work 2'x2'x6" made into a box with a couple (ok maybe 4 or 5) aluminum heat sinks that go through the bottom...

    Disorderly Light Theory

:-Dbongsmilie There's an alloy of antimony and gallium nitride that can be used to separate water into it's substituents with merely the power of the sun. I'm just saying, there's got to be a way to fight the thermal death of the universe/multiverse. If it can't be done with an alloy then...

    Disorderly Light Theory

So the laws of thermodynamics state basically that in order for a system to become more ordered relative to the universe it must give off heat. Entropy and enthalpy, respectively. All lights give off SOME heat. All electronics, really. So what if we could design a light that when electricity...

Best Co2 Temp. Why can't I get a straight answer.

In order for photosynthesis to occur at a faster rate the temperature must be warmer. Things speed up when they get warmer.

Best Co2 Temp. Why can't I get a straight answer.

@a mongo frog Resinhound published some of the data I was referring to. @Resinhound that data is full of holes. "The study reveals that this species can be efficiently cultivated in the range of 25 to 30 °C and ∼1500 μmol m−2s−1 PPFD. Furthermore, higher PN, WUE and nearly constant Ci/Ca ratio...

    Thinking about insulating hoods

Bryan that's a sound barrier material. It has the same drawback as reflectix, no R-value listed. The formula: BTU = sqft*(T2-T1)/R-value can be used to estimate the R-value if you rearrange and get: 1) 0=(sqft*(T2-T1)/R)-BTU Assuming the difference in BTU will account for room temp we can...

Best Co2 Temp. Why can't I get a straight answer.

There is no true scientific knowledge currently. The gov did a study and said something like 85F at 1200PPM CO2 with 2000umol/s. The light was some LED contraption though. Even the newest gavitas only put out like 1500umol/s at their rated foot print. It's all a bunch of hooey anyway. umol/s...

    Some advice on co2

Just get a Marey 5L. Pipe water to the unit and put a solenoid before the unit, have the CO2 controller operate the solenoid. Just trash the waste water. If you try to recycle it often gets too hot for the unit to fire and even with pool pucks in there some super crazy bacteria ish will grow...
