Issues w/ my first hydro grow.

I think they have too much water. The rock wool, contrary to popular belief is very easily over watered. By flooding the cubes 4 times a day you are keeping them saturated to the point they are suffocating. Remember plants roots need fresh air too. You gots to let the rockwool dry out before...

What all needs to be done to start transition to bloom?

Nice looking plants, hope you got a lot of headroom them are gonna get big man. I would prolly go ahead and change nutes too bro that might help keep them down a bit by limiting nitrogen available. Just thinking out loud.

How long would a "short" flowering period be?

7 weeks minimum from start of 12/12 light cycle, most strains take longer. I start checking new strains at 7 weeks but only your plant can tell you when it is done in your garden.

New smart meter can easily detect large grows.

Ha ha, the BEST way to get the power Co. looking, is to do ANYTHING that tampers with their equipment or steals power. DO NOT DO THIS

Discolour of leaves not good i dont think

Did you rinse your hydroton before you used it? That looks like dust from your media, not nutes in the bottom of the res. I rinse mine in a colonder

i need help choosing some good elec or digi ballasts!!!

    9. Digital ballasts are considerably lighter in weight so I can mount them to a board in a very space saving way using only a few drywall screws. To answer the question asked in the post, I personally like digital ballasts but the best advice I can give you is to ask your supplier which...

ebb and flow, what to put plants in?

If you fill your table then you can't move plants around. Not an option if you want a perpetual grow. 6" pots will grow kick ass bud in hydro. I would suggest however, that you consider making multiple 4 x 4 tables rather than one large one. Takes a lot smaller res with two smaller...

    Led grow lights?

At this point in time the LED is not even a pimple on a gnats butt compared to HP bulbs. If anyone tells you different they either never used one and are going on web hype for their info or, they got suckered into getting one and they can't bear to say out loud they were suckered. Ha ha ha.

    growing in perlite

Perlite rocks  in ebb and flow!! I tried a lot of other things too before I settled on perlite. Hydroton- Really expensive and hard to clean. coco- Good result but messy as hell! rockwool- Hard to water correctly and still a bit pricey in bulk. gravel-...

How do you fill your 100 gallon reservoir?

I use one res for two tables and it works out very nicely for me. ;-) I use two pumps set on two different timers set 30 minutes apart. I fill my 100 gal res with a hose adapter from the bathroom faucet. Use H2O2 to keep any pestilence at bay. I use 16 oz of %35 food grade H2O2 for my res...

What's a Good Alternative to Hydroton?

OMG $30 a cubic foot!?!?!? That's better than $10 dollars a pot, For that kind of scratch, it ought to cut and trim them for me. Seriously, everything else on this thread but the perlite I mentioned is either heavy, dirty, costly, hard to clean (If it costs $30 a cubic foot you have tor reuse...

electronic ballast acting funky, advice/opinions welcome

Probably not your ballast at all, but a worn out bulb. A HPS or MH for that matter, is really only good for growing under ideal conditions for about 6 months at most, after that I start to see reductions in garden output. But other outside things can effect the length of service of these...
