    Decomposing Wood

You should research a little Hugelkultur. I haven't done it myself but I've heard that it works pretty well.

    Cannabis cup Seattle?

I'll agree that the tickets to get in are a bit steep. I think if I go next year I would go on the day they have the concert, might seem more worth the entry fee. Aside from that I had a pretty good first time at the cup. Got several packs of seeds no problem, smoked a bunch (a couple vendors...

    Seeds Vs Clones

I like clones because you know right off the bat that they're female and going to become pretty identical to the mother. However, as an outdoor grower, I personally prefer seeds. You can buy a pack of good genetic seeds and all you have to do is weed out the males a month or so after planting...

How long have you been growing

Thanks man, same to you. Yeah sometimes i wonder if the cannabis genus evolved the way it has so that it could convince humans to become caretakers of all plants. Seems like most of us gain a greater respect for nature after we start growing.

    Self pollinated plant seeds?

Cool, thanks for the help everyone. Yeah unfortunately it was neglected in my second greenhouse that's not setup very well so I think a combo of shit soil, temp extremes, and dried out soil made it go herm. Not sure why i kept it if i didnt have the space or soil. I'll try a couple seeds and...

How long have you been growing

Been growing myself outdoor for 5 years. First year my plants were lost to deer before they finished flowering but the rest were pretty successful. Growing cannabis has been an amazing experience in my life. Starting those first seeds actually got me started on my passion for gardening and...

POTS VS. Straight IN the Ground?

I start my plants in pots until I know which ones are females. The best looking females go into my raised bed in the greenhouse. Once they're in the ground I don't need to water as much and they don't produce as many yellow leaves. I also like to think the soil biology is a bit more stable and...

    Self pollinated plant seeds?

Last season one of my plants ended up producing male pollen sacks within the buds. There weren't a ton and it was already quarantined in another greenhouse so I just kept it. Of course, some of the buds were heavily seeded and now I have about 20 decent looking seeds. Is there any detriment to...

compost tea through flowering/ fighting against bud rot?(foliar feeding)

I agree with Spicy^. It's going to leave a pretty solid organic crust on your buds that you'll have to wash off. I don't think it would prevent rot either.

    Mites in my soil

There are a lot of different mites out there in the world. Might not be the evil spider mite you are thinking of if it's living in the soil. For instance, there are a ton of mites in my compost pile but they've never hurt any of the plants I apply the compost to.

Vermicomposters Unite! Official Worm Farmers Thread

Three tokes for worm farming! Don't know what I would do without them. I have 2 big bins that I harvest each once or twice a year and a smaller bin that has 3 sections which I can harvest regularly. Two families worth of food scraps and all my egg cartons and brown shopping bags keep them well...

    springtails.

I don't mess with the springtails ever. They're just a part of the big nutrient cycling system in the soil. And yes they might be eating fungi and bacteria in your soil but those microbes (even fungi) are very beneficial to plants. Not all fungi are molds or parasitic organisms. I think it's...

    Good toker jobs?

I just graduated from college with a BS in Environmental Science (I know, stupid choice) and guess what.... no jobs available. Well, I am currently working a seasonal position but it's not continuous full time hours, doesn't pay all that much, and no benefits (scared of not having them when...

    one pound plant ????

I grow in a raised bed in my greenhouse. Had a few plants that hit the one pound mark and they only took up about 9 sf. I use a lot of homemade compost and LST them at a 45 degree angle. There's a lot you can do to increase yields but pot size is the ultimate limiting factor.

WSLCB says keep home grows for medical marijuana

Do they seriously expect that three flowering plants isn't going to produce more than 3 oz??? I hope that limit changes. Would we seriously have to sell off excess to the state stores, with the absence of mmj dispensaries? And really no more providers??

Public Hearing: Wa State Liquor Control Board attempts to Take over Medical Marijaun

I honestly think that not a politician in this country is concerned for the common citizen. They only care about how much money they can make while in office. It's sad that they'd rather line their pockets with more cash than allow ill people access to good, cheap medicine.

Thanks, that was a nice article. Had I not figured out about all this just a few hours ago, I would have attended the meeting.
