I have a bag of Jiffy Organic Seed Starting mix. It is a premixed soiless mix. Can I use that for the life of the plant, or do I need to change mediums once a seedling gets going? If I do need to change mediums what is a simple pre-mixed option?

Totally agreed with the height, I had left in a high shelf and after thinking more about it, I removed the shelf and added another 10 inches to a foot of height. The T5 set up from HomeDepot looks perfect sizewise because of how thin it is. But the bulbs are only 14watts each... is that an issue?

I think I have good vent 3" cool air in, and 3" forced (with fan) out. I'm going to go with the CFL to avoid heat issues.

I'm looking to start a smiliar grow. I can't decide on lighting. I was thinking of hanging two "dome shop lights" the ones with the round metal reflector. I would put a "y" bulb socket in there and hang 4 CFL's. Not sure what the best wattage would be (1 plant at a time like urs) Any thoughts?
