Ok, I've got 2 27-gallon tubs that I'm going to use. I've decided to use Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting mix. The 1.5 cubic feet bags have 38.6 'dry' quarts. 2 27-gallon tubs is 216 quarts. Does that simply mean I need 5 bags of mix? Should I put some small gravel on the bottom (1-2 inches)...

Well, thanks to all the information, pictures, etc., on this site, I'm convinced I can do this! I've never even had 'normal' garden before, let alone tried something like this. Anyway, I'm going to build a stealth garden under my work bench/lab for my 220 gallon reef aquarium in the basement...
