DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I'm not a biologist or anything, but this is one of a multitude of articles on the subject: http://organicgardening.com/blogs/dougsorganicsolutions/2011/12/13/sugar-as-a-soil-supplement/ Keep in mind, if you're going to grow a little weed, and save/make yourself a little money, there is a long...

    Just checking, need expert opinions.

It looks to me like you flipped them when they were still pretty small. What are you using for lights? Looks like you might could use more. Grow well, B.B.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Don't put anything "sweet" directly into the res. It will most definitely feed any pathogens present. In reality, it's my understanding that roots don't take up sugars, but they do exude them. The best way to sweeten your bud is to maintain proper nutrition, and keep them healthy. The plant...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

My systems are "biobuckets" by design. I'm pretty sure I introduced pathogens from the get-go, via the prevegged plants I first brought in. I would have to say that the biobucket design is not the cure all for root rot issues. It took a month or two for the RR to set in, but it nearly wiped...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Just one more noob question for the moment, I promise (Edit: Okay, two). I recently started adding fulvic acid to the reservoirs, and the plants seemed to like it a lot. I am concerned however, that it may be pathogen food in the res. Should I maybe break it down in the tea first? My current...

I don't know if jungle juice is organic, but the superthrive is definitely not good in your res., as with any organics, when battling root rot. Brew that tea for 48 Hrs. and get it into your system. Keep adding 1 cup/ gallon, every 3-4 days until things start to turn around. Then back off to...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I just wanted to pop in & report what condition my condition is in, and ask a new question (for me at least, please forgive me if it's already been discussed; I've only read about 150 pages of this awesome thread). I'd say I'm about 95% out of the woods with my root issues. Apart from becoming...

    Watering and drainage question

the amount of water used depends on a lot of factors besides drainage (air temp, relative humidity, size & health of plants, etc.). I would wait to water until the top surface is dry. Grow well, B.B.

    Ph help

Depending on your system, organics (vinegar, lemon juice) may not be a good idea. I use sulfuric acid, bought as battery acid. $15 for 6 qts. at your local auto parts store. It's very strong. You might want to add 1 part to 4 parts water before using to adjust your reservoir. Grow well, B.B.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I wouldn't go over about 0.5 ml per gallon. The literature says they renewed the dose when foaming was visibly diminished, which was 2-3 weeks. I recently redosed at about 2 weeks. I've been researching this surfactant thing further, and found this article about the effects on plant growth...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

According to the research, the surfactant (wetting agent) affects microbiology with a zoosporic life stage. Zoospores have no cell wall, and the surfactant causes their thin cell membrane to rupture, spilling their guts. Most beneficials do not have a zoospore stage, and are therefor not taken...

I've heard that some of their stuff is like that, but I hope Betty isn't one of them. So far, she's doin' me right. I think all AN products are over-priced, and over-hyped. The reason I chose that one, is that it was readily available, and I could figure out how to dose it (I think). So far...

I added to the reservoir at the rate of .02 oz/gal. That's about half way between what the article suggested, and what AN recommends. Grow well, B.B.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Greetings, I just wanted to chime in and report the condition of my grow. To recap, I "preveg" in hydroton, DTW. From there, they go into RDWC biobuckets. I've been fighting what I believe to be Pythium for a couple of months. I started the tea regimen about a month ago. It made a marked...

PLS HELP!!! Seedling grown right on side of its small container

if all is well, the roots will fill the space provided, and shouldn't be a problem. The best time to plant up is when the plant is nearly root bound, but as long as it has well established roots, you can plant up without a problem. Grow well, B.B.

    Pythium or not??

Kinda' sounds like pythium. Got any root pics? Grow well, B.B.

I'm stumped! Would like to know what this is before I lose my whole crop :(

What do your roots look like? I've been dealing with a very similar issue, and have indeed found it to be pythium. Grow well, B.B.

I guess I was too far off topic to warrant an answer. My apologies. Grow well, B.B.

DTW- drain to waste. I top feed for 1 minute every 6 hours, and it drains to waste, as opposed to recycling in any way. Biobuckets are basically a recirculating bucket system with a couple of tweaks. Instead of air pumps, the water drops about a foot as it returns to the reservoir, forcing O2...
