depends on the wattage. i find running four 105watt cfl's (around 400 relative watts each) works great for up to four plants. the lower the wattage, the hotter the bulb, though. so be careful with that. you're still going to need a pretty hefty ventilation system with any significant number...

depends on the strain but they will stretch during flowering. i would go with sasquatch's suggestion and go 1/3 of your maximum height.

catch, those are the ones i just got. i don't think you can mix to 2700k. mine came in as 6500. which is just fine, for now. and you can't beat that deal with a stick.
