Darkness before chop: In or out of water?

I know. That's why I'm confused. :-) Some people say that a couple of days of darkness before the chop makes for a smoother smoke; I've never done it before. I guess it doesn't really matter, though.

Darkness before chop: In or out of water?

I've been flushing for about two weeks. Today I turned off the lights, intending to give my plant a couple of days of darkness before chopping her. I've found lots of info on doing this in soil (people stop watering at this point, of course), but what about DWC? Should it pull her out of the...

One is flowering, the other is not

Today I finally see some early signs of flowering. I guess she's just behind her sister. Whew.

    Fruit Flies? On my plants

I have this problem on my houseplants sometimes, and I've found that a solution of water with just a drop or two of Dawn dishwashing detergent, misted on and around the plants, kills the little buggers right away and doesn't hard the plant.

One is flowering, the other is not

Thanks so much. I'll check my nutes again, but I've kept them on the light side. I'm always afraid to give too much so I tend to err on the side of caution. This is my first hydro grow, so I'm kind of feeling my way. I veged for about six weeks (not quite sure of the time; I went by plant height...

One is flowering, the other is not

I have two plants growing hydroponically right now. They were both planted from the same batch of seeds at the same time. I put them into flower about a week and a half ago. As you can see from the pictures (sorry the quality isn't better), one plant is covered with flowers. But the other...

Dumb DWC newbie question about supporting plants

I've been having a hard time figuring that out, too. I finally decided to make a screen from PVC pipes and plastic chicken wire to hang from the ceiling of my tent. Whether or not I actually do SOG, the screen will support the plants.

    Thanks for the advice!

    leaving dwc for 10 days

I'm starting my first DWC grow, and we have to be away for Christmas for two weeks. There's no one to check on the grow while we're gone. I have three plants each in 30-gallon totes. I'm planning to follow Glaucoma's advice and set up a res with a float valve. It's cheap insurance. I ordered a...

Dumb DWC newbie question about supporting plants

I'm starting my first-ever DWC grow (I have several successful grows under my belt, but all in soil). I've always supported my soil-grown plants with stakes, and I'm wondering whether I need to worry about support in a DWC setup. I know I can do a SOG, but if I don't do that, do I need to worry...

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

They've all germinated now. Hooray! Now to see how many are female of the six I popped.

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

Hooray! They're germinating! Now we have to see what sort of plants they produce.

    Seed germination suggestions

I have the best success with putting them in a small glass with distilled water, in a dark closet. Mine almost always germinate that way. I've used the paper towel method, too, but I worry about forgetting to keep it moist.

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

Well, these seeds came from the dispensary and were "guaranteed" to be female. Yeah, right.

Anyone else have the shittiest luck with bag seeds?

My first grow was bag seed. I had about 20 seeds, and I popped them all, thinking that 1) not that many would germinate and 2) of those that germinated less than half would be female. Well guess what? They ALL germinated, and 15 out of the 20 were females. So I ended up with WAY too many plants...

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

I definitely have some friends and family who like to share the wealth. If, that is, it turns out to be wealth. :-)

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

Too funny. :-) I just hope I never have to leave him in charge again. He *did* harvest for me one time, but that was easy by comparison. I just hope I don't have any more unexpected trips in the near future.

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

Thank you so much for this! I was really worried about the pollen contaminating everything. I will wash everything down, but I won't be so worried about making everything hospital-grade sanitary. :-)

Thought hubby ruined my grow but maybe he did me a favor

Thanks! My fingers are crossed so tight they're purple. :-) I compared them to seeds I got from the dispensary, and they look the same. Same size and color. I don't know if that means anything, though...
