Have same problem with FF seedling mix. Usualy place the soil in the jiffy pots and place in a bowl to water for first time. You could always plug the holes in your pot to let it soak for a moment.

i think youll be fine without treating them. let nature take its course and build up beneficial insects to kill off the mights. introduce lady bugs, mantids, etc... if really necessary
