How do you know when to bud is ready to go from drying to curing ? I'm just curious because im in my 7th(day 50) week of flowering and i picked a bud to test and its dry on the outside but the stem still isn't hard in the middle of the bud.

I'm 8 days in to flowering with a CFL setup and was thinking about an HPS setup. I know I need the bulb and the ballast, but was wondering how much wattage to go and what other things would be needed. (I have 4 plants)

I was looking at these, and are these useful at all ? I saw a 17w in home depot, but it was 20 bucks. Also it does anyone know what type of light it is (it says it contains mercury on a warning label, but I don't know)?
