Want to Know If Your Plants are Finished?

A general question: It seems that there is a recognizable progression during ripening -- trichs go from clear to cloudy to amber. Instead of just looking at the buds in a pic, is there maybe a more standard or scientific way of assessing ripeness, say, when the trichs are 10% amber, or maybe...

    PH meter question

High All, I have 2 PH meters (an EcoTest and a Hanna), and both do the same thing: I put them into a nutrient solutions that I want to test, and, in a minute or so, they stabilize with a reading. However, if I then swirl the end of the meter in the solution, the reading changes, sometimes a lot...

    Help!

I thought the same thing for a while, MrMean ...I noticed that the problem seemed slightly less on the leaves farthest from the light, so I raised them. The 430 is about 20" away and the 1000 is about now about 36" away. However, I did this about 10 days ago and I have seen no improvement. And...

    Help!

High All, Thanks for the responses. The general consensus seems to be that it is a Cal Mag problem, but I've been using the exact formula that Botanicare recommends both for veg and flower. It's also exactly what StinkBud uses. However, since the leaves look like the pics of the ones with Cal...

    Help!

My whole crop seems to be suffering from something and I can't figure out what it is. I use an aero system with Botanicare nutrients mixed to their exact recommendations at 1500 PPMs, my room is 50% humidity at 78 degrees, my water is RO, the light is 430 watt SonAgro and a 1000 watt PlantMax...

    Spin-Out for Chemical Root Pruning

Hi Uncle Ben, I have read this whole thread and it seems you have stirred up a hornet's nest. I, however, agree with you and your reasoning, and I would like to try this copper paint. However, I am into aeroponics and use a double tote system: the plants are set into the lid of the top tote and...

How does this sound for a harvest?

Sounds to me like they're long overdue for harvest. About 1/3 milky is best, imo.

    Homemade light reflector

Here's a 7 day update. The pics last week showed 17 seedlings under my new reflector, and they got so big I had to move six of them to underneath a 4" x 8 lamp T5 setup I had. Also, I built another 3x4 reflector and placed it in front of the first one, ready for the plants when they get bigger...

    Homemade light reflector

Thanx, for your comments. Re: the diy rather than buying question, I like building things and saving money. besides, there's nothing available that big and that reflective.

    Homemade light reflector

Here, attached, are some pics of a new light reflector I made from stuff I bought at Home Depot. It measures 3' x 4' and has mylar glued to the reflecting surface. Total cost about $80, works great.

    Continuous grow question

Thanks (and reps) to all for your input. I think I'm trying to do something that there's probably no real good way of doing. I'll rethink my strategy. Thanks again, Bob

    Continuous grow question

OK, let me put this another way. Does anybody know the best way to retard or stretch out the clone/veg stage so that the plants reach the 6 week stage in about 8-9 weeks?

    Continuous grow question

Fireproof, I don't think that would work ...I don't think I can stretch the the veg for 2-3 weeks by lowering the light. I think the result would be tall, weak plants that spent all their energy reaching for light. ReeferSanity, I am aware of that chart -- it's basically Stinkbud's method. I'm...

    Continuous grow question

High all, Maybe someone with more knowledge than I have about this subject can help me think about it: Because of space, heat and time constraints, I want to have a continuous grow of 8 plants, that is, when the plants I have in bloom are ready for harvest, another 8 clones are ready to take...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Mr. Heisenberg, I may be taking a thought to an absurd conclusion, but consider this: Since the idea behind keeping a batch of tea in the frig is to slow down the microbes' activity, which allows you to keep the tea longer, would freezing the tea allow you to keep it indefinitely? If so, you...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Mr. Heisenberg, Thank you for your thoughtful and comprehensive response. It is not feasible for me to do a test site -- all of my equipment is in continuous use and the 2 bedrooms that I grow in are pretty well full up. Also, I already ordered the EWC, etc., so what I think I will do is try...
