well its my first grow with an hps, grew a few plants with a mh but it didnt turn out to well

Alright so I'm thinkin bout starting up a 1000w grow just wondering how many plants I could throw under it using a SOG and how many I would get by growing trees. I was hoping like 15. And I was hoping for like a pound and a half. Sound about right?
