Total Hydroponic Control (T.H.C.) - The build starts NOW!

Cheaper? Not likely. It isn't overly complicated to do all that. I could probably build it myself for less than $100. Probes not included.

Total Hydroponic Control (T.H.C.) - The build starts NOW!

I wish I had the money to purchase a standalone HMI and all the transmitters. I have a SLC504 (16ID, 16IA, 16OD, 16OA) setup sitting boxed up in a closet somewhere from when I was in college, I intend to use it for something someday, lol. That said, I am doing something similar, but I am having...

Total Hydroponic Control (T.H.C.) - The build starts NOW!

You can get peristaltic pumps that put out at minimum 0.1mL/sec (+- 0.05mL) and 1mL/sec maximum, that should be more than enough control to dose a reservoir over 1L. At 10L that will give you 10ppm resolution.

Large Grow Cabinet Idea (SoG, Perp, Not sure about lighting yet)

Okay, so here are the designs I have made up, in SketchUp, so far. It is going to be a SoG, perpetual harvest, using small aeroponics buckets (link below), not sure about the lighting yet. It with either be 25 36W CFLs with independent reflectors, or 5 150W HPS for flowering, 54W of FL for...

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

HPS Spectrum, my bad, you are right, they are slightly out of range. As for those progrowlights, they are induction lights, not plasma. Almost the same as CFL/Fluoro, except there is no internal electrode, and the gas on the inside is excited by inducing eddy currents from the outside with...

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

But the HPS outputs in mostly the 1800k-2200k temperature range, which is completely usable by plants, it is in fact in the range most used by plants during Flowering. Whereas the Plasma outputs all across the spectrum, with higher outputs in green/yellow, lower in blue, and lowest in red (in...

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

That very well might be, in fact it is probably true as the products from Monster Gardens all use LiFi 40-02 bulbs which have a 94 CRI, but the way they push these lights is suspect. I mean, on the Monster Gardens website, they tout the Stray as being comparable to a 600W HPS in lumen output...

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

Well, it works. It just doesn't work as well as they make it sound. They put out very little heat, supposedly you could touch the glass shield (to protect from UVC light) and it wouldn't burn you. I will wait to see what kind of lumen output a 1000W plasma light puts out before I totally put...

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

I think the next big thing in lighting will be those nanocoated LEDs. They supposedly got 300lm/W in testing.

I meant tout, tout - To solicit customers, votes, or patronage, especially in a brazen way.

Plasma Lighting doesn't seem to be as great as they tout it to be...

Ok, so I see all these people touting Plasma lighting as the wave of the future. I check out Monster Gardens website and look over their Gavita and Stray lighting products. They are all 300W and put out 18,000 lumens, a comparable HPS (310W) will put out 38,000 lumens and a MH (330W) will put...

    Pro Grow Induction Grow Coming

Induction lighting is the almost the same as your standard Fluorescent or CFL, the only difference is that instead of exciting the gases with an electrode inside the bulb, as with Fluoro/CFL, you are inducing eddy currents from outside the bulb by winding a coil around it, or part of it. This...

Canadian Medical Marijuana Patients & Growers

Hello there Jeff, there was a woman in NS who took the NS version of ODSP to court and won, now the NS Gov't has to pay for her Cannabis. It only works for the Gov't supplied stuff from Prarie Plant Systems, but you should look into it, find the court documents (should be online somewhere), and...

Canadian Medical Marijuana Patients & Growers

I have never asked for a prescription, just for them to sign the paperwork. They call it a prescription. I have always replied that it isn't one, but that it is induction into a medical program.

Canadian Medical Marijuana Patients & Growers

Is anyone here, who lives in Ontario, willing to give up their Doctors identity? I have an appt with a Doctor who supposedly will sign the paperwork, but it is over 4 months away, then it will be another 2 months (at least) for HC to process the paperwork. Obviously, I would like to get the ball...

    UV sterilizer

If your water smells like a swimming pool, that probably means there is chlorine in the water, not that its a bad thing, just figured you should know if you already didn't. As for the microbial discs, it is silver looking, correct? Meaning it is probably a copper disc coated in 99% silver, which...

    UV sterilizer

A friend of mine would recirculate water in his reservoir through a UV sterilizer. It would keep down on bacteria and algae growth in the reservoir, he could even keep the reservoir open to the air and allow light in and nothing would grow in it. Better than using chemicals.

    UV for mold and Hermie?

UV-C is what is used to kill bacteria, it is normally filtered out by the atmosphere. It will kill mold on buds, it will damage pollen. If you want to use it, make you you do it after you have harvested the bud, otherwise you will damage the plant.

marijuana mad science (grafting marijuana to other plants)

I have been reading into grafting as well, after seeing it happen at a vineyard. It makes me wonder if the cannabis would take on characteristics of the plant it is grafted too, which could be awesome if you could graft it to a faster growing plant like bamboo, some types of bamboo (which is a...
