The same Savage who hates autistic people?

~lol~ I actually listened to Savage the night he talked about autistic children. The show really wasn't about autistic children ... it was about the special interests that have been built up around autism ... the money the industry is making and the advantage they are taking of the parent's fears.

What they have done, according to Savage, is to widen the diagnosis for autism to such a degree, that people who don't actually suffer from the disease are treated for same, prescribed medications unnecessarily ... and of course, the money flows into the coffers special interest groups.

Just look at how many kids are prescribed Ritalin in our public schools these days. Hell, when I was a kid, I was all over the place ... very active, hyper and always running around. It was considered normal child behavior at the time.

That was the gist of Savage's program that night ... and he made his point very well. The fact is ... he gored a lot of oxen that night ... and what we are seeing is the over-reaction of those who's living depend upon the growth of the autism industry

That's not to say that autism doesn't exist, just that it really doesn't affect 25% of the child population as the special interests would like us to believe.

Vi that is only an opinion, not a fact.
The reason why there is such a increase in autism it because the Yuppies were more concerned about career and started have their kids later in life.
It's a proven fact that when you start having kids after 30 the chances of having an autistic child go up 60%.
Autistic children who are born to parents under the age of 30 are because the mother carries the gene. Which was the case with my son.

My son has Asperger's Syndrome and I would guarantee I know more about this than you do Vi.

My son turned 18 in June he has a IQ of 70 and the mentality of a 12 year old.
This was not only confirmed from a regular Psychologist, but also from a Neuropsychiatrist.

Savage is full of shit on this issue.

My oldest son, 22, is a high functioning autistic. The psychs briefly bandied Asperger's about, but it was determined that is not his diagnosis. I think we were quite lucky, but because he's high functioning he appears completely normal. He isn't, but he puts on a pretty damned good face.

My youngest son is a Touretter. I must admit that some of the stuff I read and hear people say gets my panties in a tight wad right up my ass. Don't think I remain silent in response to ignorance, either.

I don't believe I "passed judgement" in my post, Dank ... all I did was present Savage's side of the issue. It was Savage's judgement that I posted, not mine. Here's a quote from my post:
