Essential Truths of Corporate Business

Unfortunately, the taxes that businesses pay to the government are collected as part of the prices that they charge the consumer. In the rhetoric of class-warrior politicians (i.e. mostly Democrats and Leftists), one would think that the taxes simply come out of bloated and unnecessary profits. A profitable business, indeed, may choose to eat the costs and lose some profit in order to remain competitive. However, not all businesses are all that profitable. Many operating at the margins can simply be put in the red when an extra cost, like a tax, is imposed on them. They may have a limited time to cut costs before going bankrupt. If they fail, well, then the established and comfortably profitable businesses have lost some competitors -- they are not going to lose any sleep over that. Indeed, since higher taxes can harm the competition, maybe it will occur to the corporate fat cat (i.e. Warren Buffet or Ted Turner) to suggest to his politician friends that raising taxes on business might be a good idea. Everyone should pay their "fair share." Then, having done their good deed, they can retire to their ranches in Montana and enjoy federal subsidies for not growing food. The good works never cease.

Yup and General motors can have their cars manufactured in China while cutting Jobs accross the US, Nothing to do with taxes BTW, (More to do with the rising cost of Medical insurance). Wal-Mart can have all their manufacturing done in China and sell it cheaper than anyone else and put hundred of thousands of small stores out of business. The HMOs can keep raising prices and put thousands of small businesses out of business, and add to the growing unemployment statistics. This country is going to be on world labor standards/Prices soon enough. I wonder who is going to buy houses or automobiles for the prices now seen when wages are at 75 cents an Hr. I'm going to save up and then I can buy that Malibu beachfront mansion for 30-50K, especially when the ocean rises 20ft. The future looks dim, unless you are already an elite. Future elites will only be made with their parents wealth, or those that can see the future and take advantage of their clairvoyance. My advice, buy guns and ammo, stash them in a safe place, and when they are made illegal, sell them for a fortune.

Raise the Tariffs on goods coming from China to the same rate that China charges the United States.
It's called leveling the playing field.

Well, that and a few other things. Bring back the progressive income tax to pre-Bush standards. Fine and regulate out of control industries. Put a stop to importing cheap labor, pay liveable wages, institute a federal medical nation wide system for all citizens, thereby relieving large and small companies from the burden of ever increasing medical costs and allowing people of all walks to have the same medical as the government employees. The list is long but do-able. Otherwise, better put in your order now for your 2012 cadillac, made in China.

So, there are two guys in a rowboat ... a Chinese guy and an American guy. The Chinese guy pokes a hole in the bottom of his end of the boat. The American guy solves the problem by poking a hole in the bottom of his end of the boat as well.

It that what you're suggesting, Dank?

PS: How's your Mom doing? Better, I hope.

Hanging in there Vi, No better, No Worse.

So You say we should still let corporations ship jobs over there and not level the Trade deficit?
When will figure out that when they keep shipping jobs out of this country (all in the name of Free Trade) who is going to buy all the cheap shit when there are no jobs left.

So to answer your question, Yes. If one is going to sink us, then we sink them with us.

Let's face it Vi, your logic on the situation makes little sence as well.

Vi here is a little food for thought.
If your such a fan of Ayn Rand, then you wouldn't want to be doing business with China (a Communist Country) anyway.
You would want to go out of your way to try and crush them any way you could.
