Default France: One Step Closer to Capitalism?
Guess Socialism isn't working to well for some countries, eh?
BBC NEWS | Europe | MPs scrap France's 35-hour week

Quote:
President Nicolas Sarkozy has blamed the 35-hour week for damaging France's economic competitiveness...

The bill was supported by the Senate's centre-right majority but opposed by the opposition Socialists.

Excellent, Dave ...

Also, the unemployment rate among young adults in France is around 25%. That's a result of their laws that forbid employers from firing employees. So, the untested, inexperienced young people are just not hired at all, or very seldom.

Here in the U.S., our federal minimum wage increases today to $6.55 an hour, further reducing demand for unskilled labor. For those enjoying the increase, that increase will be paid for by the end consumer, including those receiving the hike in the minimum wage, in a time when prices are rising due to the falling dollar.

Collectivism marches on ... in spite of the resulting unintended consequences.

Did you have a point to make about my post? Anything you'd like to refute there?

Not really, just that American Capitalism is sweeping the world, displacing hundreds of thousands, creating a few rich men and a whole bunch of poor bastards, dumping chemicals with abandon and polluting rivers and streams accross the globe. looks like France is finally being bought/owned by American Capitalism. They fought the good fight, but in the end, Money always wins.

in the end what always wins is what works. when socialist policies fail and an independent country is forced to band together with others merely for its economic survival, isn't it about time to try something else? of course money wins. wealth is always preferable to poverty. at least to anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together.
