I've been saying for years that we need to lift the embargo from Cuba.

Once the new generations have gotten a taste of the real world, the Cuban Government would not be able to control them and the Cuban form of Communism would collapse.

Cuba is and was a communist slave state strictly run by Fidel Castro utilizing the heavy hand of his Secret Police. Had the embargo been lifted, the only beneficiaries would have been Fidel Castro and his cronies.

The markets in the Soviet bloc, including Russia, opened up AFTER the fall of the Soviet Union. As an example, one of the reasons for the revolution and the subsequent executions of the dictators Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife Elena in Romania was the fact that all the stores were empty, including the food markets. Like Russia, there were no free markets in Romania. In fact, it was against the law to own, buy or sell anything made outside of Romania. Violators were jailed upon detection.

Had the embargo been lifted in Cuba, all the profits would have gone to the state. That's the way it works under communism. The state owns it all and the people live a life of poverty, while at the same time, the dictators and their friends live a life of luxury.
