We know we have enough valid signatures to put it on the 2008 ballot.
Both Oregon and California have petitions, with the first step, 'approval as to form', done. Massachusettes has turned in enough sigs to put decriminilization on thier ballot, don't remember if that is the 2008 general election.
I still believe there is a way to accomplish this. VV | I just checked it out and the authorities have banned any promotional gatherings furthering the proposition of legalization. They (the authorities) are being taken to court for closing down a gathering and banning future gatherings. I mean, it is our constitutional right, right? They had cops riding through the crowd on bikes and one of them smelled Pot, hence the disbanding of the gathering. Whoops.

| | That would be a turning point in the discourse. It does point out how much power 'they' think they have. I will say that I have seen a lot of reluctance to bringing up the subject. VV |

| | Hi VV, good to see you back on board. I hope FL warmed up for you?
Thanks for this thread. The reefer madness article is outstanding.
I have excerpted the money quote below:
"Much of the behavior that packs Wisconsin 's prisons is rooted in drug and alcohol abuse, " the report states. "As one judge put it, Drugs drive all our crime, the whole caseload. The economics of the whole criminal justice system here is driven by addiction. ' " Overall, $43 million in annual savings would result from providing treatment in lieu of incarceration, the report concludes."
The criminal justice system is itself, addicted to the unconstitutional war on drugs.

| | Do to the budget crises in California ... the Gov is going to release 20,000 non-violent offenders from the state prisons. Looks like the state can no longer afford to house people who make voluntary trades like money for drugs. Who-da thought that budgetary constraints would force libertarianism upon the state of California? ~lol~ Vi

Welcome aboard stemseed. VV | Let's see, the war on drugs, the war on poverty, the war on Terror, geeze all this un-necessary war is expensive. How about a little peace for Christs sake. How much do you think the war on terror is costing us?

| | Appeals court snuffs out warrantless marijuana search The street might be wet because the steet cleaners just went by. Saying its logical to assume there is more than an oz of pot because someone is smoking a joint is just not logical. This could be a huge decision if enough people find out about it, especially with the 3-0 opinion. VV

How much do you think the war on terror is costing us? | It is costing way too much, because the focus is not going after bin Laden and the leaders. The focus is on nation building and military industrial complex. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
