| | Med ... Your thoughts, please. | | Med ... In a previous thread, you stated that you will be voting for B. Hussein O'Bama in order to get more "liberal" (read progressive) judges on the Supreme Court. In view of today's narrow (5-4) vote to overturn Washington D.C.'s handgun ban and declare it unconstitutional, would you have been willing to sacrifice your Second Amendment rights by installing O'Bama's judgeship selections to the bench? Your thoughts on the issue, please. Thanks ... Vi

| | I personally do not think that banning handguns is a good idea.
If banned only cops and criminals will possess them. What are we going to use to protect us from either?
The Second Amendment stays....
But if one were going to read into the Patriot Act, there is a gun grabber provision in it.

| | I woudnt want someone that would get rid of handguns, but I dont want someone that thinks torture is ok either, you know somewhere down the middle preferably. I believe obama said he supported the supreme courts decision, besides werent all the justices appointed by repuplicans except for the two clinton appointed, that means atleast two of 4 who voted against overturning it were rep. appointed right?

| | O'Bama is an ultra-progressive. If elected, we will see more appointees along the lines of Ruth-Bader-Ginsberg on the Supreme Court. Had they been on the bench when the D.C. gun ban came before them last week, the consensus would have been that the Second Amendment is a "collective" right and not an individual right. This means that cities throughout the nation could arbitrarily rule that law abiding citizens would have to give up their guns. Still awaiting Med's input regarding his previous stance on appointing progressive judges to the bench and how it would have related to this most recent decision. Vi
