i'm rather surprised that no one sees this whole thing as a totally expectable preparation for the likely outcome of current events. a government that restricts the freedoms of it people must be prepared to deal with the eventual revolt against their actions. to believe that any government wouldn't inter its citizens to further its control is naive. if you believe your government wouldn't suspend due process for its citizens in time of emergency, ask the japanese-americans imprisoned during ww2 what they think. even though most of us here have at least a minor distrust of government, most don't seem to want to admit the obvious truth of the matter. the good of the state is paramount and the will of the people is nothing more than a minor impediment.

that such a transparent agency as fema is solely responsible for the implementation of something of this magnitude is highly unlikely, but that such plans exist is not. americans are a highly unruly lot. we cling to our freedoms and our guns almost as tightly as we cling to our illusions. i was asked by wetarded about hidden arsenals in another thread. are such caches so unbelievable? aside from the survivalist loons, the white supremacist cretins and the black power nut jobs; there are plenty of just plain folks who are concerned enough to feel that they should be prepared. hoards of munitions are tucked away by honest, hard working people just because they can and they should. these aren't fanatical head cases, but folks who don't take their freedoms for granted and are willing to defend them. they believe, as did the first patriots of this country, that there is a point at which your government may become your enemy and must be brought down. your friendly neighborhood government knows perfectly well that those folks are out there and they would be remiss in their duty to the status quo were they not to invent some way to at least try to keep them under control. interring a couple hundred thousand to keep the peace wouldn't seem too extreme to bureaucrats in fear of losing their power. murdering a few thousand more in self defense isn't something that would keep the political animals up at night. to those who crave power the people are an abstraction, their desires and needs are the carrots used to goad them, their fears and hatreds are the sticks used to keep them in line.

the power to decide what an emergency is has fled beyond our control. committees work in secret and old men hide in back rooms to decide such things. the emergency of the people has been ongoing for decades.

Some guns were illegally seized from citizens, nowhere near ALL firearms were confiscated. NOPD took a lot of heat for what they did. The recoil from that inappropriate response was felt throughout the land. States everywhere passed laws strictly forbidding such seizure in times of emergency.

Are FEMA Trailers Making Residents Sick?, CBS News: Homes For Those Displaced By Katrina Can Contain High Toxin Levels - CBS News

Link- Today the government says 86,000 families are still living in those white FEMA travel trailers across the Gulf — more and more waking up with a host of health problems — tied, medical experts believe, to the place they still call home.

When Hurricane Katrina tore apart homes here in Bay St. Louis, Miss., Angela Orcutt and her young son Nicky found shelter in a FEMA trailer meant for weekend trips.

That trip has now lasted 21 months — something these trailers were never built for. Time has turned them into human Petri dishes — unregulated experiments on the health of thousands still stuck inside.

What were the symptoms?

"Pretty much just the constant coughing,” Angela Orcutt told CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian. “He would just — you could hear it, just in his chest."

Dr. Scott Needle, a pediatrician in Bay St. Louis, was the first to notice Nicky was not alone. Dozens of his patients were suffering from the same symptoms that kept coming back: coughing, burning eyes, nose bleeds, sinus infections.

They had one curious connection.

"Every one of them said, you know, we are living in a FEMA trailer. And not only that, but, you know, little Johnny wasn't having these problems before we moved into that trailer," Needle said.

Trailers with floors and cabinets built with particle board containing the chemical formaldehyde. Under hot, humid conditions, formaldehyde lets off toxic fumes, especially harmful to young lungs.

But, I thought it was illegal for them to do that in the first place/'back then'? Weren't they breaking the laws in the first place going against the second constitutional(laws of our land) amendment because they deemed it appropriate. Or its only our RIGHTS when everything is going "as planned"... .. Frankly, the citizens didn't even have one ounce of effect of the outcome from the hurricane. It was inevitable, so why punish the citizens and beat up old ladies? It just doesn't make sense to me.

So my point is that they disregarded the law abiding citizens RIGHTS back then, so I hope they won't disregard the citizens RIGHTS again in the future because they "deem it appropriate".

You ever been to the swamp? Those cats down there in those orleans ghettos are the dirtiest cats around. Even houstons crime rate went up when they showed up. I would have taken there guns away too. What the hell does a 18yr old kid with no job and 6 felonies need a pistol for?

This FEMA camp stuff is new to me. I can't believe they actually have places like this. When I first heard about it, I didn't know it was true. But, if true, its obvious the purpose of FEMA. As you said UnderTI, FEMA's purpose is for the current gov't to keep power in the case of a extreme revolution. Candidly, its the 'timeout'(except with guns, soldiers, barbed wire fences and the such) just in case the people see the gov't for what it really is and try to take action.

EDIT- I heard that the "European union" had to forfeit the their arms in oder to appease their gov't! We must not let that happen to us!!!

Also, when you have (enter number of tax payers here) tax payers(people to me, but tax payers to them) paying ~1/3 of their paycheck (enter total amount of billions of dollars we pay to the gov't in taxes) to your business(the gov't is now acting like a corporation if you ask me) you damned as well better believe that these people are going to safeguard their utterly lucrative business. So they put OUR obligated money to "good use" and build FEMA camps just in case the "tax payers" get out of hand so they can set an example for the rest of the "spectators"/sheeple. Just my honest humble opinion anyways.

Have any of you ever heard of the phoenix program? My grandfather told me stories about it. It was a vietnam era deal. You cant hardly find real info on it. My point being, why would they tell you before they came after you? If you think fema is the problem, then they have you.

Why would they talk about going to war with Iraq and Afghanistan before they actually did? Why talk about going to war with Iran before they actually do?
