Even gay conservatives are leaving the party

GOProud co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia has officially announced that he is abandoning the Republican Party due to what he sees as a “tolerance of bigotry.”
Today, I joined the ranks of unaffiliated voters,” he said in a post on his website Monday. “I am every bit as conservative as I’ve always been, but I just can’t bring myself to carry the Republican label any longer. You see, I just don’t agree with the big-government ‘conservatives’ who run the party now.”

“The other reason I am leaving is the tolerance of bigotry in the GOP. The current leadership lacks the courage to stand up to it — I’m not sure they ever will,” he said.
GOProud was co-founded in April 2009 by Mr. LaSalvia and Christopher R. Barron as a tax exempt 527 organization that represents conservative homosexuals and their allies.

Real talk...

The "republicans" everyone has a problem with are the new ones that unti just recently were democrats.

The Christian right is the group, and their transition from blue to red has been complete for about 10-15 years. They have hijacked the republican party.

The national shift started in the 1960's, but they stayed democrats at state and local levels until the late 90's or early 00's.

They are clingers, no one wants them really.

I hope we see more of this. The Republican party is a joke, only distinguishable from Dems in their rhetoric, not in their actions.

A new CNN/ORC International poll released Thursday shows Republicans holding a 49 percent to 44 percent edge over Democrats in the “generic ballot,” which asks registered voters whether they would choose a Democrat or a Republican in the midterm elections without identifying specific candidates.

Gay republicans? I suspected they were like unicorns and didn't really exist. Learn something new every day. I may have to re-examine my beliefs in leprechauns.

Interesting read cn. They don't seem too pleased with Duck Dynasty.

We have a couple at work that identify as conservatives, but hate the republican party. I'm going to show them the website.
