absolutely not, if the government can't handle less than a million patients it's not even plausible to consider them taking care of the entire nation...

as more and more of this problem comes to light it's obviously a case of very very poor management and leadership.. there still have not been enough people fired for this yet, imo.

i suspect that not too many people are taking the time to write their politicians and i fear that this is going to fade away before it gets resolved.

many people seem to think that news coverage means that something is getting done but it doesn't mean that at all...

Exactly right, 7x. There will be hearings on top of hearings, ... and then more hearings after that and nothing will be done. There is no profit motive driving the VA Administration, or anyone who works for them to do better. Bureaucrats are bureaucrats even when they have the designation of "Doctor" in front of their names. I'm afraid that the federal government is caving in upon itself.

I'd say that that they have put so much money into this war that they have not much left over to take care of other things on the home front.

I think that it would be stupid to make the VA an for profit agency... Believe it or not there are more important things than making a profit.

i agree totally with the first part. if you go to war you have to sacrifice things. we have a "credit" mentality, which is actually related to the "entitlement" attitude. the government wants to wage war completely on our credit, and have us pay down the road. they need to make some unpopular cuts in some of the pork projects, cut useless agencies, drop social spending programs in order to fund complete victory.

this "social distance" from the dirty mechanics of war is also what makes us such a war prone nation lately.. there's a lot of money that should be "re-deployed" to not only medical but to combat costs (armor, better intel, more troops).

the second half of your statement is where we part ways. i always believe that if you teach a man to fish... same goes to running services; you get a leader in charge who's livelihood depends on performance and innovation you will not see the kind of fiasco unraveling in front or our eyes with this scandal. neither the military or government is expert at health care and this task would be much more effectively handled by those who are.

it obviously doesn't make it effective or safe just because it's surrounded by government bureaucracy and overpaid political goons Dank...
