Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change

Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."


Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.


"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.


Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.


Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.


"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.


"In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet," he added.


Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.

"It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda," he said.


Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.


"It is in the hands of climatologists and other related scientists who are highly motivated to look in one direction only," Klaus said.

Right, it could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of PROPAGANDA!! Not just global warming propaganda but other political lies too.. The propaganda box, I mean TV, is a tool that the richest and most powerful people have been using to instill their bullshyt down our throats whether you believe it or not. Not exclusively, but just look at global warming, I have done my research(and disclosed most of it to my fellow RIU members) and I'm conclusive "global warming" is Al Gores ticket to selling books and increasing gov't funding on the subject.

This is why I'm pushing for a truth revolution- Even though I might get patronized during the process for my nonconforming beliefs. As long as I know I'm doing my part, than I wont have a guilty conscious, because I did the best I could(thats all I can do, and that all that matters ).

Sorry Vi, not much of a debate from me..... But I guess it can be used as a 'bump' for someone else to debate

Med's agenda, if he could, would be to level all income, depose of corporations, destroy capitalism, turn business over to the central planning of the federal government, raise taxes until the people bleed and just in general reverse everything America stands for. He sees the unattainable as attainable just like those who came before him ... Lenin, Marx and Engels. What Med is blind to, is the fact that what he espouses is slavery, shortages and eventual starvation. It never occurs to him to look around at all the blessings and abundance that is supplied by a free market, capitalistic system. His politics are motivated by greed, jealousy and envy. That's about it.

Every time I try to point the above out, Med tries to deflect it by posting his wisdom such as "Slap, slap, slap."

HAHAHA, I'll have to keep a closer eye on the "communist propagator"(if that makes sense..... He propagates communism... get it? Hehe)

I'm all for capitalism, it gives the incentive for people with strengths to 'get up and run with it' to make as much money as possible. Some people have strengths in different areas, but you can still make enough money if you work hard at what you are best at.

But, I could see how people with lesser capabilities(and thusly less money) would like for everyone to make an equal share no matter the work they do so these "weakest links" can get the same amount of pie......

Now that I think about capitalism this way, its almost like "natural selection"- survival of the fittest. Conversely, communism is the opposite, and the "lesser people" are not "weeded" out as much...... Idk, maybe I'm way off, but this is my opinion ATM.

Either way, God(whomever he is) bless everyone....
