I'm talking about U.S. early history here. The states may never have united over this one issue. Just making an observation as this is a very important issue for people who live in low population density areas. If you live in, say, Miami, Los Angeles, or New York City then the one-person-one-vote thing sounds great. But I guarantee you those people not only have no clue what the experience and life of someone in a more rural area is like, but also absolutely don't give a shit. Then, the weight of those who live in urban areas comes down on those who don't. The electoral college was the great equalizer, and remains so. At this point I am somewhat ambivalent on the issue, but I also don't think that it's the most pressing issue facing us at this time.

Also, we are not under Bush's thumb, we are under the collective thumb of our elected "representatives", congresspeople, and senators. HR4279 is just the latest expression.

How delightful it has been to see the class bully get his ass handed to him.
