Default Don't Pump Gas On May 15th!!
Mark your calendars....let's make a difference for one day just to help each other!
DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!! It's a great idea and we need to do something!!! The Austin paper recently indicated that prices could go as high as $4 per gallon later this year... In April 1997, there was a 'gas out' conducted Nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight. On May 15th, 2008, we would like to ask all that internet users not to go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.50 a gallon in most places. There are 73,000,000! American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up. If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies' pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day. If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to all of your friends with it saying, ''don't pump gas on May 15th" I'LL BE PARTICIPATING

Its a good idea however everyone will just fill up on the 16th, probably making the oil companies more than the average day.

If you were to make a serious hit on them, don't buy gas for a whole week, that'll make em come crawling.

However I shall not buy on the 15th

Don't worry, with prices skyrocketing and jobs dissapearing, the consumption will soon be dropping. I like how the price of gas and everything else is blamed on Clinton since he left office 7.5 years ago. The ghost of clinton strikes. I guess GW and Cheney being oil men has nothing to do with it. ~LOL~, some people! I mean, since Bush doesn't care about the environment one stinkin bit, why didn't he make the oil companies start building new refineries as soon as he got in?? Yeah, just blame it on Clinton.

What good will it do if we continue to drive? Not pumping gas for one day will do nothing.

Place the blame for high prices on the misdirected monetary policies of the Federal Reserve. By continuing to lower interest rates, they are in effect, putting too much money into circulation, thereby lowering the value of the money supply, causing inflation,.

Much of the high gas prices here in the U.S. can be attributed to the oil refineries using outdated facilities instead of properly repairing or building new structures to replace old ones. At any given time, we have refineries that are " closed for minor repair", which makes for less finished gas product, which makes them more money...and they don't even have to spend any money keeping their refineries in good working order...every time something breaks, they just make less and charge more...

why would prices drop if demand will not?
not pumping for one day doesn't change demand....
that's dumb

And, we can blame the misdirected religion of environmentalism for this, right?

You are correct to an extent. There are laws limiting the building of new refineries in many areas, but there are no laws against maintaining and upgrading existing facilities as far as I have seen.

I am not sure about laws regarding increasing capacity. At the very least the oil companies should keep what we have at 100% most of the time...
