Just curious...Anybody here former military? Anyone currently serving or intending to do so?

I'm former Army and my son is currently US Navy (I told him he could join any branch but the Army...).

Army, Viet Nam survivor. I agree, any branch but the Army. Now though, they are using any branch to drive convoy. the most dangerous job in Iraq. Some Air Force personell have been killed by IEDs, rather sad.

Coast Guard's the way to go, my pops has been in for almost 24 years, said he traveled to jamaica and seen the house where Bob Marley was born in while he was on a ship. I hope when i get outta college i can join the CG its legit.

P.S. just found out on 4/20 that one of my friends from HS died in iraq from an ied on the 14th, hes the only person i known who's ever died. Worst 4/20 ever, i didn't even wanna smoke or do anything.

Army 67-70 I got a lot of good training and a lot of it was fun and all was good for me. I have been told that the navy has the best chow, although I thought it was the fly boys that had the best as I bunked with them 4 or 5 times for a total of over 45 days, and C-rats couldn't be thought of as top chow and the AF bunks were also top notch. Med I did and can wear the CIB and one of the few that liked ham&motherfuckers. Did you wear the CIB?

Nope never did. I wore shit stained shorts more than once though.
