I'm just flat out finding it funny that all these people have their panties in a bunch but still buy the products that come out of china and more.

Sorry, I just don't see the boycott really holding any weight as it isn't hurting China any with this boycott, the games are the only thing that will truly suffer from it.

I bet if Walmart started shipping some of these jobs away from china and into countries such as Mexico and such then they'd change their tune on human rights.

The Olympics have always been about athletes competing with each other. The media and the politicians would have us believe that its one country competing against other countries.

Thats the way I think, its more about the athletes seeing who are the best in the world, not which country is better.

I just find it pathetic the games are the only thing being boycotted when people buy billions of dollars worth of stuff from china every day.

I've always been a huge fan of the Olympic Games and get really immersed in them every four years. I remember how pissed off I was when Jimmy Carter(worst president in history) boycotted the Games. It was a total disregard of the incredible work and time spent by the athletes in training and preparing for the event.

Who's spewing the largest amount of bluster/steam in calling for another boycott? The Demobats, I bet.

Clinton Challenges Rivals to Join Call for Olympic Boycott

Sen. Hillary Clinton called on President Bush Monday to boycott the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing in a symbolic protest over the Chinese government’s recent crackdown in Tibet and failure to put more pressure on the Sudanese government for the genocide in Darfur.

Today, Clinton challenged rival Sen. Barack Obama and likely Republican nominee John McCain to join her in that call after British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s office announced that he will join with other world leaders in boycotting the ceremonies.
“That was an important decision by Prime Minister Brown and I am calling on Senators McCain and Obama to join me in my request that President Bush also not attend the opening ceremonies,” Clinton said in a statement.
Leaders of the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, and Poland have already said they will boycott the ceremonies, according to Associated Press reports. French President Nicolas Sarkozy has also not committed to attending yet.
Clinton is the first presidential candidate to call for a boycott. Obama told CBS recently he is “hesitant” on the boycott “because I think it’s partly about bringing the world together.”
The White House has been peppered almost daily with questions over whether or not President Bush will attend the opening ceremonies. White House spokesman Dana Perino said today that she could not comment. “It is way too far in advance for us to announce the president’s schedule,” she said.
Update: Obama said in a statement that Bush should boycott the Olympics opening ceremonies “if the Chinese do not take steps to help stop the genocide in Darfur and to respect the dignity, security and human rights of the Tibetan people.”
