Why would you promote proven falsehoods?

Here's something American media are virtually guaranteed to not report: a British court has determined that Al Gore's schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" contains at least eleven material falsehoods.

How marvelous. And what are those inaccuracies?

The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.
The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.
The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

and if we were to get into a "collection the evidence" competition and copy and paste competition.. I am sure I would win. because the resources and the evidence is so heavily in favor of the THAT GLOBAL WARMING DOES EXIST...

If global warming does not exist and there is no threat,,. or if the threat is not nearly what people claim it to be.. then I will be the most happy person on the planet.. or at least tied for first place... i love nothing more than to see mamma earth doing well..

and I apologize for spreading any falsehoods.. please excuse my ignorance.. I am not expert and no scientist... I can only go on what I know.. and I appreciate your efforts to open my eyes to the truth... with the faculties I have and the resources I have been using.. I see the global warming effort as a positive evolutionary step for mankind...

Many people are saying that it is a CONSCIOUS conspiracy to generate income for people.. like al gore etc... I appreciate that in out and I will watch that development.. and even if al gets even more rich... that is fine with me.. I am not concerned with being right or people making money while making efforts to save the planet.....

There is not a contradiction in becoming mega wealthy and saving the planet...

I believe it was al gore himself that admitted that his family knew that tobacco killed and caused cancer... and yet they continued to make money off selling cigarette's.. until his sister died from lung cancer... that type of life experience is profound.... i appreciate and I am very interested in knowing what he learned from that experience... just as I am interested in knowing your perspective..

GK i hope you get lots of e-mails on this great movie. I do agree with Milf to an extent there were some falsehoods in the movie but all in all had a good message and better to do something than nothing.

All I see here is that the government does want you to know the truth cause it would cost them too much money. The goverment will tell you whatever suits them best. You would be ignorant to think they tell us the truth.

i believe global warming because of co2 is a hoax.. i believe it is the other way around(temps increase co2)... just think about this for a second

al gore show you a graph of the co2 vs temp in our past... right?

think about how co2 could go up in the past.... there were no cars, no factories, nothing that produced co2 inorganically. the things that did produce co2 were volcanos, decomposing matter, animals, and other organic stuff.

how would this minuscule amount of co2 actually change the weather? the fact is that it didn't....

my point is that temps effect the co2 levels... not the other way around.
also, the sun is warming(fact) and actually other planets in our solar system are warming too(fact)...

the whole point to al gores "an inconvenient truth" is a scare tactic to get the populace in a state of fear and make us believe that we have to do something to save the world.. thusly, they would be able to implement a global co2 tax on anything that produces co2 and robbing the average citizens more of their hard earned money..

i am an environmentalist, and believe the world should be taken care of for sure... there are things that we could do to stop pollution from fossil fuels, like run our cars off of water....
